Amazon Software Development Engineer in Seattle, Washington

Especially, we leverage conversational AI and machine learning technology to predict and resolve customer issue in self-service and automation way.

The Customer Self-service and automation team is looking for Software Developers passionate about applying Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing technology into resolve customer day to day issue. We don't invent the wheel, but we use the wheel to build the car and benefit everyone.

An Engineer in this team will:

  • Own multiple applications and features in regards to Amazon.com and the launches of these features.

  • Develop End-to-End customer facing features from web portal to back-end service. Experience with UI – Web and mobile development is not mandatory. There is a lot of backend work to be done and front end work can be available if there is interest and/or experience.

  • You work with PM, UX, Applied scientist and experienced SDEs to apply machine learning models

Key job responsibilities

As a Software Development Engineer you will own MessageUs, Customer Service Help and YourAccount applications and features in regards to Amazon.com and the launches of these features. you will collaborate with other senior software engineers to drive innovation and technology improvements, design and develop new services and solutions, and build and track metrics to ensure high quality results. Your solutions will provide the ultimate customer service experience needed to anticipate and resolve customer's questions using the Chat and Voice platform, Customer Service Help, and YourAccount applications in regards to Amazon.com. You will have the opportunity to work with business partners and leadership, influence and drive product vision and lead the design of our systems. At Amazon, we are known for our customer obsession. We use SCRUM, test-driven development, and continuous deployment to deliver projects based on realistic timelines and resource constraints.

About the team

CET's Self-Service and Automation (SSA) team aimed at developing effortless experiences for customers by continuously anticipating their issues, surfacing timely information and simple, actionable resolution to customers wherever they interact with Amazon. Through these experiences, It solves the two primary issues customers face with the current Contact Us and Help experiences: difficulties discovering relevant help content and automation (discoverability) and limited or ineffective self-service options (actionability). Our Team owns a number of customer-facing pages across Amazon desktop, mobile web, mShop, tablet experiences worldwide. Our pages are the primary ingresses to help content, self-service information actions, and Customer Service contact channels.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience

  • 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

  • Bachelor's degree

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $134,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
