Amazon Sr Principal Applied Scientist, Amazon Customer Service in Seattle, Washington

Description

As a Senior Principal Scientist in Amazon Customer Service (ACS), you will have deep subject matter expertise in large language models and generative AI across various modalities. You will work with multiple teams of scientists and engineers to translate business and functional requirements into concrete deliverables. More specifically, you will provide thought leadership and lead strategic efforts across ACS including technology investment recommendations and decisions, designing an innovate scientific roadmap that will impact multiple touchpoints across Amazon.

Key job responsibilities

• Use statistical and machine learning techniques to create scalable risk management and support systems. • Proficiency in programming for algorithm and code reviews.

• Analyze and understand large amounts of Amazon’s historical business data for specific instances of risk or broader risk trends.

• Design, development and evaluation of highly innovative models for risk management.

• Work closely with teams of scientists and software engineers to drive real-time model implementations and new feature creations.

• Establish scalable, efficient, automated processes for large scale data analyses, model development, model validation and model implementation.

• Research and implement novel machine learning and statistical approaches.

About the team

ACS support core customer segments in Stores, Digital, Devices, Video, Music, Amazon Business and finally driver and delivery support. The Sr. Principal Scientist will be a technical leader to a large group of scientists globally. They will be a thought leader, who will help to shape the next innovation in forecasting and demand planning across Amazon having visibility at the S-Team level.

Basic Qualifications

• A MS in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, Operations Research or in a highly quantitative field

• 10 years of hands-on experience in predictive modeling and large data analysis

• Expertise in Machine Learning as applied to large-scale generative models

• Strong ML breadth and depth

• Strong skills with SQL

• Strong skills with Spark/Python/Perl (or similar)

• Communication and data presentation skill • Strong problem solving ability

Preferred Qualifications

• A PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics or Operations Research

• 15 years of industry experience in predictive modeling and analysis

• Superior ML breadth and depth

• Expert skills with SQL

• Expert skills with Spark/Python/Perl (or similar)

• Superior problem solving ability

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $240,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $350,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
