Villa Academy Substitute Teacher in Seattle, Washington

Villa Academy seeks a Substitute Teacher to be on-call as needed through the academic year. These roles are scheduled ahead of time or called in to cover classroom responsibilities when a teacher is out. Substitutes may cover a variety of classes and have the opportunity to support students in Preschool through Eighth Grade. Substitute Teachers play a crucial role in maintaining the continuity of instruction and supporting student learning when regular teachers are absent.

The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic, creative, knowledgeable, and child-centered educator. They will be able to step into a wide variety of classrooms and enjoy working in a dynamic environment.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver lesson plans and instructional materials provided by the regular teacher.
  • Provide instruction and support to students in various grade levels and subjects.
  • Maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Monitor student behavior and enforce classroom rules and policies.
  • Collaborate with other teachers and staff members to ensure continuity of instruction.
  • Commit to the mission, vision, and values of Villa Academy.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Successful teaching experience in Preschool, Lower School, or Middle School.
  • Ability to follow or change a lesson plan based on the needs of students.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Proficiency with instructional technology including document cameras, interactive whiteboards, web-based learning software, and Google apps.
  • Knowledge and love of students as well as strong classroom management skills.
  • Positive energy and enthusiasm for working in a Preschool through Eighth Grade, faith-based independent school.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional growth, curiosity, cultural humility, and antiracism, as well as an understanding of its critical role in academic excellence and student growth.

SALARY:

  • $242/full day (four to seven and a half hours)
  • $121/half day (up to four hours)
