Amazon UX Program Manager in Seattle, Washington

Description

We are seeking a self-motivated and talented UX Program Manager with strong organizational skills, great drive, and best-in-class ownership to join our Buy with Prime UX design team. You will work collaboratively with designers, developers, researchers, and product managers, leading projects throughout the planning, design, and development lifecycle to implement simple, scalable approaches that force-multiply design efforts.

This role requires deep functional expertise, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to hit the ground running. Reporting to the Manager of Design Operations, you will own key programs and continuous-improvement efforts such as prioritization, intake, tracking and reporting mechanisms, tooling, and other aspects of Design Operations. You will invent, evolve, improve, and simplify in a manner that scales across multiple teams, feature types, and development methodologies.

You are flexible and comfortable with ambiguity, adapting your approach to meet the needs of a broad set of partners. At the same time, you are adept at driving for clarity and alignment across partners and stakeholders.

Key job responsibilities

Support the Design Operations practice, including intake, prioritization, capacity planning, tooling, and process optimization.

Define and manage strategic initiatives to improve design team efficiency and impact.

Measure the impact of programs and initiatives both qualitatively and quantitatively.

Collaborate cross-functionally with designers, developers, researchers, writers, and product managers to ensure a smooth product development process.

Create, maintain, and publish reports and dashboards that share project information and illustrate progress against goals.

Support the management team with effective team communication, proactive problem solving, and information distribution.

Establish and drive a communication strategy to keep the UX team and partner teams informed and aligned on priorities and risks.

About the team

Buy with Prime UX is a centralized design and research organization with the Stores organization. Our designers, researchers, writers, and program managers operate as embedded design team members within domain areas to build subject matter expertise, while reporting and operating as a centralized team to drive consistency across products, establish cohesive North Star vision artifacts for Buy with Prime, and support career growth.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry experience.

4+ years of successful experience as a Producer, UX Program Manager, Research Program Manager, or similar role in a user experience or design team.

4+ years of experience leading large projects through the full product development life cycle in a large, cross-functional team.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

Strong knowledge of project management tools and methodologies (Agile to Waterfall)

Deep understanding and knowledge of human-centered design process

Experience managing UX programs and working with Design and Research

Strong ability to effectively manage cross functional projects, dependencies and bottlenecks

Experience escalating issues and anticipating and making hard trade-offs between business and customer need

Experience gathering and analyzing large amounts of data and delivering continuous business improvements

Ability to work effectively with tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment

High attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously with minimal supervision

Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive

Passion for design, research, and writing.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $74,800/year in our lowest geographic market up to $159,900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
