Responsibilities
- Responsible for activities that help formerly homeless clients connect to supportive services
- Be responsive to tenants who are in crisis
- Attend to basic needs of tenants (food, transportation, medical, financial, etc)
- Works with outside agencies and community resources to advocate for and/or assist tenants with obtaining needed supportive services
- Works with tenants to develop Individual Supportive Housing Plans by identifying and setting goals focusing on building stability, maintaining housing, developing life skills, and building community relationships
- Respond to building emergencies and post work orders as necessary
- Adheres to policies and procedures; assures conformance with Agency, Commerce, and Housing and Urban Development (HUD) policies and objectives
- Collects rents and turns them in to the business office, keeps current and accurate rental ledgers
- Performs unit inspections monthly and as needed
- Communicates daily with Housing Director through use of daily logs
- Meets weekly with Housing Director to discuss questions/concerns/procedures
- Attend Permanent Supportive Housing Meetings to discuss questions/concerns/procedures
- Create and maintain working relationships with other agencies and supportive services
- Use Homeless Management Information system to document supports provided to clients
- Maintains accurate and complete files and ledgers
- Strictly adhere to agency confidentiality agreement and employee code of conduct
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Requirements
- Post-Secondary Degree and/or relevant experience in homeless services or housing
- Knowledge or experience working with the homeless, adults with mental health disabilities and substance abuse disorder. Peer Support Specialist experience highly desirable.
- Ability to multi-task, be organized and energetic
- Basic understanding and ability to work with homeless population and persons with disabilities, addictions, mental health and other situations unique to each client.
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds
- Top communication and computer skills; comfortable with Microsoft Office Software Suite
- Physical: Ability to sit, stand, lift a maximum of 25lbs and climb stairs.
- Valid Washington Driver's License/or Photo ID and reliable transportation
- Ability to pass criminal background check
- Ability to work independently and be self-motivated
- Ability to work well with other staff members in the best interest of residents
Job Type: Full-time
