Nike GC-STORE DESIGN OPERATION SR MANAGER in Shanghai, China

Required skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Construction, Project Management, Business or related field.

  • Retail industry experience preferred; retail environments and programs (store design, construction/installations, fixtures & fittings, consumer services, operations)

  • Minimum 6 years’ experience in project management, retail design, fixture or event production

  • Experience working in a large, global environment, on complex, high visibility projects with large budgets and brand and/or commercial impact

  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance as well as effectively collaborate with Senior Project Management, Design, Geography and Nike business partners, vendors/manufacturers

  • Organized, able to operate at different Global / Local levels

  • Able to build detailed presentations with PowerPoint, Keynote, or Adobe programs

  • Chinese / English fluent professional skills mandatory

  • Can accept travel

  • Portfolio of past work required for interview

Overall Job Description:

  • Lead the project management of Nike in-line stores’ new opening and renovation projects. Own design team’s overall project schedule and day-to-day design deliverable gates, manage production timeline and quality while remaining flexible and focused on delivering the best creative solutions.

  • Monitor the roll-out process of partner doors and value channel doors. Work with Design team members to issue each concept’s toolkit and ensure each project’s design deliverables are on track.

  • Support the development and execution of Nike’s new retail concept pilot doors, ranging from large format, small format and Jordan-only concept.

  • Part of Retail Design team and works primarily in conjunction with Store Design and Story Design, as well as other internal and external stakeholders (Geo + Global) to contribute to long-term planning and process improvements to support project execution and brand goals. Act as Retail Design studio’s main point of contact to collect, filter, and track information to facilitate design team’s work.

  • Tactical, organized, positive team player who is responsible for delivering the project objective and deliverables.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive overall project schedules and track design deliverables. Manage meeting and review cadences, as well as key gates during each stage of design work and execution.

  • Involve in early-stage site due diligence and coordinate site condition negotiation.

  • Follow through the design development of every project. Keep records of key design decisions within Retail Design team and cross-functional alignments, within geo and with global.

  • Collaborate with architects, agencies, contractors, and suppliers to ensure designs are developed and executed to specification and quality standards.

  • Facilitate sampling and prototyping, identify and address key issues and challenges in the printing, construction and manufacturing, and work out solutions with vendors in collaboration with designers.

  • Accountable to organize, record and maintain all project specific development and production documents and learnings for integration into retail standards.

  • Facilitate all design related submission processes, in partnership with designers, architects and other functions within Nike.

  • Fosters teamwork and builds consensus among design team, partner teams and vendors. Fosters innovative thinking an operational excellence that optimizes creativity and efficiency.
