Citigroup SVP, Business Development Officer, Commerical Banking in Shanghai, China

The Business Development Officer is a strategic professional who closely follows latest trends in own field and adapts them for application within own job and the business. Recognized subject matter expert within one area. Commercial awareness is a necessity. Is an acknowledged authority both within and outside area of expertise. Typically a small number of people within the business that provide the same level of expertise. Excellent communication skills required in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. Some external communication is typically required. Provides advanced judgment and conducts in-depth quantitative or qualitative analysis to solve problems and develop new, innovative solutions. Required to think beyond existing solutions, assumptions or current knowledge of sophisticated areas. Significant impact on a function and/or the business through making decisions that determine technical approaches and strategies for the area.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for sales strategy development and determining the best possible approach for strategy execution.

  • Deal with complex issues or problems with substantial potential impact, where weighing alternatives and balancing potentially conflicting needs is required for the development of possible action items or approach.

  • Accountable for delivery of a full-range of service to one or more geographic regions.

  • Work with senior management to structure and negotiate more complex deals and financial requirements.

  • Apply in-depth industrial and business knowledge for uncovering and seizing business opportunities.

  • Develop and manage program related internal and external processes by sourcing, evaluating, winning, and closing new partner programs.

  • Assist Country Head or Team Manager in budgeting, planning, policy formulation and implementation.

  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, engineering or related disciplines

  • 15+ years relevant experience in the commercial baking industry

  • Good record of proactively building relationships with product and credit review/approval partners

  • Solid knowledge in in treasury and capital markets products

Education:

  • Bachelors degree, potentially Masters degree
