The Assistant Controller is responsible for the accounting functions, transaction processing for North America and the design and maintenance of appropriate internal controls. Primary responsibility is maintaining an accurate book of record & financial systems to drive accurate downstream decision making by management. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES * Plans, directs and coordinates daily operations of the accounting teams for the US and Canada. * Primary leader of the monthly closing process for US and Canadian units. * Establishes standards for the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate and timely consolidation of multi-national businesses. * Establish detailed procedures for accounting teams in line with globally defined policies & standards. * Ensure proper capitalization and timing of depreciation for CAPEX additions. * Oversight of primary financial system (Microsoft Dynamics 365) and all financial systems providing transactional data. * Performs oversight activities for all system changes impacting financial reporting or transaction processing in Microsoft D365. * Assists with an efficient and comprehensive preparation and coordination of the external audit. * Creates an environment of continuous improvement and automation as an enabler of growth at low incremental transaction and reporting costs. * Hires, trains and retains energetic accounting and finance staff. QUALIFICATIONS * Leadership skills * Enthusiasm for adapting to and driving change * Attention to detail * Strong communication skills * Collaborative across functions, businesses and geographies * Excellent judgment EDUCATION REQUREMENTS Bachelor's degree in accounting and 10+ years of progressive responsibility; preference given to candidates with Certified Public Accountant designation and/or public accounting experience.
