Job Summary:

Schedule: Monday - Friday approximately 7:00 am to 3:30 pm with some flexibility.

Vanderbilt Bedford Hospital Wound Care cares for wounds that have not responded to treatment or need specialized care. We bring together specialists from several medical and surgical specialties to ensure excellent care.

Conditions treated include:

Calciphylaxis

Diabetic foot wounds

Failed skin/muscle flaps

Gangrene

Necrotic wounds

Osteomyelitis (bone infection)

Pressure wounds

Pyoderma gangrenosum

Radiation injury/wounds

Spider bite wounds

Surgical wounds

Venous leg ulcers

Preferred qualifications:

1-year wound care experience, especially as a Medical Assistant

Insurance verification experience

Experience using EPIC

Professionalism

Exceptional reliability

Great communication skills

Strong teamwork skills

Significant emotional intelligence for the patient population

Flexible availability for scheduling

JOB SUMMARY

The Front Office Clerk/ Receptionist is responsible for front office functions including patient relations, appointment scheduling, telephone duties, patient registration, insurance verification, medical records, and filing while promoting positive customer relations to achieve customer satisfaction. The Receptionist/Front Office Clerk uses effective interpersonal skills to interact effectively, professionally, and cordially with patients, families, staff, and physicians. This position works under minimal supervision and reports to the practice manager.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Answers the phones as required within the department

• Schedules surgical and testing procedures; Update departmental information as scheduling changes are made and communicate information to all parties involved

• Communicate clearly, effectively, and courteously via telephone and in person; Efficiently assist physicians and other customers with labs, patients lists, etc.

• Work accurately with frequent interruptions and establish appropriate priorities

• Function as an in-house liaison and resource person for physicians, office staff and ancillary departments

• Obtain information pertinent to the pre-registration process from the physician offices and the patient

• Performs reminder calls to patients for appointments and follows up on patients who miss appointments

• Accurately verifies demographic and enters changes in patient chart and computer system
