Occupational Therapist Position Description

 

POSITION OVERVIEW

Central Kitsap School District is seeking equity-focused educators who create hope and resiliency for our students and lead the way in eliminating opportunity gaps.  As an educator in CK, you will have the responsibility to make a profound and lasting, positive impact on the lives of our students.

Under general supervision, occupational therapists provide occupational therapy services in various settings, conducts evaluations of students referred for services, serves as a member of multidisciplinary team(s), and provides other related services.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Fosters an educational environment conducive to the learning and maturation process of assigned students.

Conduct appropriate evaluation of students referred for possible exceptional educational needs and prepare written reports of the evaluations and findings.

Provide physical therapy services, including direct, monitor, and consultation services in various settings throughout the school environment.

Implement treatment program to achieve established goals and perform periodic re-evaluation to determine effectiveness of therapy program.

Participate in development of IEPs for students with exceptional educational needs.

Maintain written records/documentation according to state and federal guidelines; prepare progress reports; collect necessary data; complete documentation for Medicaid billing.

Collaborate with other school personnel regarding physical therapy and students' needs.

Provide consultative and advisory services to family, educational staff, and involved health care agencies as appropriate.

Lift, transfer, and position students and equipment as necessary in the provision of services and consultation.

Maintain necessary certification, licensure, and registration; participate in continuing education to insure continued professional competence.

Travel to and between schools to provide services.

Effectively maintain and communicate student progress using formative and summative assessments based on current state standards in accordance with district reporting timelines.

Maintain consistent data on student performance, activities, and progress related to the services on the IEP.

Timely completion of required state, federal, and district reports, including IEPs, progress reports, etc.

Communicate regularly to parents in written and/or conference format.

Uphold and assist in enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and board policy.
