How would you like to be a part of Earth’s most customer-centric company? Amazon is looking for an energetic, detail-oriented individual to join our Data Center Engineering Operations Team. You would work with committed team of front-line responders who support the operations of some of the world’s most powerful data centers. Our Data Center Engineering Operations team maintain and operate our critical infrastructure systems. This position will ensure overall availability and reliability to meet or exceed defined service levels of data center operations. The Data Center Facility Manager is responsible for the overall operation and maintenance of all electrical, mechanical, and HVAC equipment within the entire facility.

As a Facility Manager, you will maintain, operate, and troubleshoot, with the assistance of the site engineering operations team, the mission-critical data center facility equipment including electrical support equipment such as stand-by diesel generators and related fuel systems, 3 phase electrical systems that include but not limited to switchgear, UPS units, PDUs, and wet cell batteries and associated systems. Mechanical equipment includes CRAC units, centrifugal chillers, cooling towers/water chemical system, air handlers and associated systems, pumps, and motors.

Key job responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of the data center’s critical physical infrastructure. Maintain high availability and performance while ensuring that all work performed within the site is done to high quality without impact to internal/external customers and maintain service level agreements.

• Manage teams of 24x7 engineering team in all facets of their career. Prioritize and assign tasks to data center technicians and operators, manage projects, coach and create documentation. Guide, train and educate staff on best practices related to all service owner issues.

• Effectively and efficiently manage the operations budget and expenditures.

• Engage in improvement projects, often requiring reaching out to a variety of support teams, and drive them from conception to completion.

• Coordinates daily task with a multitude of third party vendors ensuring adherence to contracted SLAs.

• Communicate complex technical information to a non-technical audience.

• Respond to out-of-hours emergency calls.

• Act as an escalation point for all facilities-related issues/failures. Oversee operation and management of routine and emergency services on a variety of critical systems such as: switchgear, generators, UPS systems, power distribution equipment, chillers, cooling towers, computer room air handlers, building monitoring systems, etc.

• Ensure all safety procedures are adhered to while performing work.

• Manage emergency situations and lead emergency response team.

• Test quality, performance, safety, and reliability of products, equipment and processes.

• Role may support more than one location/site.

• Lead and manage budgeting and procurement for Data Center’s related goods and services.

• Manage talent acquisition process and people development for DCEO organization

Basic Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant engineering discipline

• 3+ years of experience in a management position with 5 or more direct reports

• 3+ years of experience with root cause analysis and troubleshooting/problem solving

• 5+ years of relevant work experience in a data center or other critical environment with extensive knowledge in UPS, Generators, HVAC, Evaporators and other critical

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, technical writing or business justifications (white paper experience)

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge/Certification in Facility/ Energy Management /Water conservation/Green Mark standards

• Knowledge of Data Center capacity planning and reporting.

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

• Able to prioritize in complex, fast-paced environment
