SHI HR Benefits Specialist in Somerset, New Jersey

Job Summary

The HR Benefits Specialist will be responsible for overseeing the company's employee benefits programs, handling leaves of absence and medical accommodation requests, managing workers' compensation cases, and ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. Additionally, this position will drive initiatives that enhance employee engagement and promote a positive company culture.

This position is required to report to the SHI Somerset NJ or Austin TX office (in accordance with SHI’s hybrid work schedule) location as determined by SHI management.

Responsibilities

Include but not limited to:

  • Administer the organization’s employee benefits programs, such as retirement plans, medical, dental, and vision plans, life insurance plans, disability plans, and wellness programs, through a strong working knowledge of plan provisions and processes.

  • Recommend, develop, and implement comprehensive benefits packages to attract and retain employees.

  • Serve as employees' primary point of contact for all benefits-related queries. Provide prompt and accurate information to employees about their benefits to resolve issues or concerns.

  • Develop and foster working relationships with external benefit partners.

  • Update, develop, and ensure the accuracy of company plan communications.

  • Identify strategies to improve employee communication and education regarding the benefits programs and develop communication tools to enhance employees’ understanding of the company's benefits package.

  • Conduct employee meetings and events to educate employees on the benefits plans and enrollment.

  • Organize and manage the benefits annual enrollment process.

  • Audit monthly benefit invoices and process approvals for payment.

  • Oversee the administration of leave of absence requests, ensuring all processes are handled in accordance with all regulatory standards.

  • Oversee the process of reasonable medical accommodation requests in accordance with the guidelines set by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

  • Manage and process all workers' compensation claims. This includes ensuring accurate documentation, timely reporting of incidents, coordinating with insurance providers and monitoring the status of claims until resolution.

  • Foster a positive workplace culture and drive initiatives to increase employee engagement.

  • Organize and oversee team events, initiatives, and programs that promote a positive company culture.

  • Ensure the organization's compliance with federal and state requirements.

  • Handle confidential and sensitive information with the highest level of professionalism.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.

  • Minimum 2-5 years of experience in Human Resources with a focus on benefits administration.

  • Proven experience in developing and administering employee benefits programs.

  • Experience in handling leave of absence and medical accommodation requests.

  • Knowledge of ADA, FMLA, PWFA, and workers' compensation regulations.

  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations related to benefits.

  • Experience in promoting a positive company culture and enhancing employee engagement.

Additional Information

  • The estimated annual pay range for this position is $40,000 - $70,000. The compensation for this position is dependent on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location and, therefore, will vary from individual to individual. Benefits may include, but are not limited to, medical, vision, dental, 401K, and flexible spending.
