PEI-Genesis, Inc. 2nd shift Machine Operator in South Bend, Indiana

2nd shift (3:30pm - 12am - Monday Friday) Loading Machine Operator needed in our South Bend, Indiana location.Training for this position is Monday - Friday 6am-2pm for 4-6 weeks.Come work for an awesome employer that values their employees. They have the skills to successfully work with their assigned machinery to keep it running efficiently and safely. Effective Machine Operators can think on their feet, make quick decisions and have strong attention to detail to ensure no machinery issues go unnoticed.The Machine Operator will beresponsible for performing various tasks to set up, operate, monitor, and run various machines in accordance with customer and PEI specifications safely.

Qualifications

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE(Needed/desired for this Position)

1+ years experience with Machine operations (to include manual machines, CNC machines and various other machines). This can include other combustible machines- farm equipment, automobiles, trucks, etc.

Communication skills; Ability to communicate with peers, superiors, and management -both written and verbally.

Self Motivated and have the ability to be cross trained for all areas of production.

Ability to fluctuate schedule as deemed necessary by management or as the work load requires.

Willingness to obtain knowledge of product and process.

Ability to follow directives as set forth by leadership.

Good hand/eye coordination, ability to pay close attention to detail, and be a team player.

High School Diploma or GED Preferred or any combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.

TECHNICAL and/or MANAGERIAL JOB COMPETENCIES -(Specific Job Proficiencies and Skills)

Demonstrate excellent manual dexterity in the assembly of small components with or without the assistance of equipment.

Computer knowledge and ability to read and interpret work instructions

Self motivated to set up machine in a timely manner as well as train others

Teamwork and communication skills- flexibility to cross train and work well within the cell

Assists in training of new employees in core skills of primary position.

The goal will be to ensure that production procedures will be carried on smoothly tomaximize efficiency and profits.

ESSENTIAL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES(Other duties may be assigned.)

  • Meet the production fulfillment needs of internal and external customers
  • Setting up machine, utilizing variety of tooling, perform 1^st^piece inspection checks .
    • Tool selection-Top tools and bases.
    • Sleeve selection.
    • Height Stopper Adjustment.
    • Paddle Push Activation-Priming.
    • Dial Position Set up and Verification.
    • Arbor press tool selection set up for bumpback.
    • Vision System.
    • Perform Height adjustments with tooling and components.
    • Operator tooling PMs.
    • Trouble shooting-Machine adjustments for required insertion application.
  • Ability to usestandardized tools of measurement (Computerized Vision Measurements,arbor presses, depth indicators, go/no-go gages, and other standardized tools/ equipment
  • Operate complex machinery safely, accurately, and efficiently per the work order and work instructions.
  • Must be able to interpret specifications using multiple place decimals.
  • Ability toRead, understand and follow work orders, specifications and special instructions as outlined on the work orders.
  • Read, understand and complete all production department documentation and work instructions to the PEI-Genesis ISO9001 and AS9100 stan ard.

``` - Ability to use or learn basic computer skills. - Work orders must be completed daily to meet Facility Promise Date and Cycle Time metrics - Maintain a clean and orderly work area to eliminate FOD (Foreign Object Debris) - Utilize necessary Kanban and FIFO methodologies.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Manual lifting up to 35 lbs. on a regular basis and up to 70 lbs. on occasion (with assistance).
  • Repetitive detailed work with hands for 8+ hours of the day.
  • Ability to sit or stand for up to 8+ hours.
  • Be able to reach overhead with or without the aid of a ladder or step stool.
  • Ability to Grip/Grasp at least 8 hours of the day.
