Aerotek Dimensional Inspector in South Gate, California

A steel manufacturer in South Gate is looking for a Dimensional Inspector on the first shift (5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.) with the possibility of overtime as needed. The ideal candidate must be able to:

Reads blueprints or engineering specifications to obtain product information such as specified material, surface finish, and dimensions.

Compares surface finish of workpiece to finish on set of standard blocks making fingertip touch comparison to ensure production of specified surface finish.

Measures dimensions such as length, height, and distance, between reference points to ensure product meets specifications.

Locates reference point on part and measures dimensions such as angle, arc, and radii.

Reports findings to Inspection Supervisor and, if necessary, write Inspection Deviation Report (IDR) if parts are not in conformance.

Sets up and tries out inspection equipment to ensure accuracy.

Substitutes known values such as dimensions from blueprints into standard formulas and solves for unknown quantities to determine dimensions not specified in blueprints.

Sets up portable CMM and related software.

Uses forklifts and cranes to move heavy parts.

Must have experience with PCDMIS and Calypso programs.
