1 Fulltime H-2A Seasonal Jobs available 03/26/2024- 12/20/2024.

As a vegetable farm practicing natural farming methods, we will need manual labor to perform the following tasks:

(March - May) Set up and assemble propagation racks, LED lights, and heat pads. Mix seedling mix and fertilizers by using hand tools and/or mixing equipment. Prepare 1020 seedling trays with prepared mix. Insert various and Asian vegetable seeds.

Check & adjust moisture and temperatures regularly. Prepare greenhouse planting beds by shaping rows through the use of a variety of hand tools to include, but not limited to, broad fork, hoe, rake, and flat head shovel. Soil test for ideal PH neutrality, and add lime/calcium to mitigate highly acidic soils. Lay wood chip mulch for walkways and lay down weed fabric in adjacent walkways. Lay down drip tape for irrigation. Repair greenhouse by repairing, pulling and securing plastic covers. Prepare cucumber beetle yellow sticky traps. Unpacking/packing agricultural supply orders. Maintain, clean, organize, and/or sanitizing work areas.

(May - September) Remove silage tarp coverings, shape, and PH-test soil bed. Cultivate/weed removal by a variety of hoes/cultivators. Lay landscape fabric on outdoor beds. Plant seedlings by hand and/or by the paper pot transplanter. Install support sticks and string for crops as needed. Assist with pruning peppers, tomatoes, and cucumbers. Harvest tomatoes, cucumbers and other vegetables as needed for sale. Organize, clean and sanitize work areas. Loading/unloading of vegetable boxes.

(September - December) Harvest cayenne peppers. Load and unload vegetable boxes. Clean and clear dead plants. Lay out silage tarps in preparation for next season. Stock up agricultural supplies. Maintain and fix any broken greenhouses. Prepare greenhouses for winter harvest in greenhouse.

Lifting required up to 50 lbs Daily or weekly work schedule may vary due to weather, sunlight, temperature, crop conditions, and other factors. Employer will notify workers of any change to start time. The employer retains the right to discharge an obviously unqualified worker, malingerer or recalcitrant worker who is physically able to but does not demonstrate the willingness to perform the work necessary for the employer to grow quality vegetables.

Requirements:

  • Three months vegetable farm work experience
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
  • Exposure to extreme temperatures
  • Extensive pushing/pulling/sitting/walking,
  • Frequent stooping, and repetitive movements
