Position: Resident Assistant Location: St. Paul, MN Job Id: 652686 # of Openings: 1 Essential Duties: Creating a Safe, Positive Environment Create an area on your floor or wing dedicated to campus announcements, posters, and initiatives. Explain and enforce University policy; report and document violations. Serve on duty as prescribed for the hall- an RA will be on duty in each hall every night of the week. On weekdays you will stay on active duty until 11 PM, and on weekends until 1AM. On-Call hours occur during University breaks where RAs are still needing to be in the building. On-Call comes with additional payment. Community Development Meet and document two 1-on-1 meetings with each resident per semester Active Programs Passive Programs Take-To Programs/Events All Campus Weekend Programs Complete two pre-planned bulletin boards or informational posters per semester from a predetermined theme Complete two sets of door decorations per semester Host one mandatory floor meeting at the beginning of each semester Training and Development Attend Fall RA Training in August 2024 in person (official dates will be shared later - typical timeframe is 2 weeks prior to move-in day). Attend Spring RA Training in January 2025 in person: you must be available to come to campus four days prior to class starting (official dates will be shared later). Arrive to campus before students come, and stay on campus until after they have all left for both fall and spring semesters. Assist with Move-In, Orientation Weekend, and Admitted Student Day activities Attend RA staff meetings, team meetings, 1:1 meetings with supervisor. Be present at and participate in fall and spring end of semester check outs. Be a positive role model by following University policy. Participate in emergency response (including training/education). Serve as a liaison between Residence Life and other departments. Actively refer students based on their needs. Participate in Residence Life educational and development meetings (as scheduled). Administration Submit administrative paperwork, including weekly reports and duty logs. Document situations of crisis, complications, and facilities issues using warning logs, work orders, and incident reports. Communicate actively with your supervisor and Residence Life. Complete all conditions reports from residents when moving in or out of a room (checking room, documenting concerns, getting signatures). Guide your residents in completing their Roommate Agreements when moving into or changing their room. Document the planning process and the evaluation of your community development areas. Position Requirements RAs must commit to a full academic year in the position. RAs are allowed to work another on or off campus job totaling more than 20 hours a week. Consult the supervisor before agreeing to more hours. RAs must maintain a 2.75 GPA Open Positions Luther Hall, Wollaeger Hall RA This position is designed to mentor, assist, and advise mostly first-year students in our two traditional residence halls. Hyatt Village RA This position is designed to mentor, assist and advise a combination of upperclassmen and first-year students in a suite-style residence hall. Holst Hall RA This position is designed to mentor, assist, and advise upperclass students in our apartment style hall. Position Compensation RAs are not charged for room/housing. RAs do not receive hourly or work study payments for basic compensation. Meal plan/board charges are the responsibility of the RA. RAs may receive additional hourly compensation for approved hours for additional programming, Residence Life sponsored events, collateral assignments and special projects.
