Introduction to BlueOval SK

At BlueOval SK, we will lead the transformation of the electric vehicle (EV) battery business through partnership (Joint Venture formed by Ford and SK On) to provide products and processes to increase our customers’ experience. As the future of BlueOval SK, you will help lead the battery revolution by working alongside our teams as we build the batteries required for electric vehicle business excellence.

The Assistant Plant Manager (LL4) position at BlueOval City in Stanton, Tennessee will have a unique, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be a key member of the start-up team, launching the facility from ground up .

The BlueOval SK Assistant Plant Manager will build and lead world class manufacturing Team of Area Managers within the battery site. Responsible for building the team and creating the processes and systems to meet the production forecast and ensure that company goals are achieved while ensuring internal stability by focusing on inputs and process confirmation. She/He will need to interact with wide range of stakeholders, including all plant personnel, Ford & SK leadership, local community officials, and media.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Learn Battery Manufacturing and be accountable for production output, product quality and on-time delivery while minimizing unnecessary costs

  • Help develop and implement the BOSK Production operating systems, consistent with Ford and SK best practices

  • Resource allocation and fully utilize assets

  • Commit to plant safety and ensure processes and systems are compliant on all shifts

  • Maintain high product quality and manufacturing yield

  • Conduct analysis and prepare reports on projects and process improvements

  • Be a role model in driving Culture and DEI – Help develop initiatives that drive a positive People experience that’s sensitive across multiple cultures

  • Develop appropriate standards and KPI’s and monitor compliance

  • Support and manage continuous improvement activities in safety, environmental, quality, cost, efficiency and productivity

Minimum Qualifications and Key Experiences

Experience:

  • Broad production experience comfortable walking the floor and requires a seasoned people leader comfortable building a team of over 2500 employees dedicated to achieving High-Volume High Quality Manufacturing goals.

  • A collaborative leadership style is necessary to influence and build meaningful relationships with SK, JV and Ford executives.

  • The APM will inspire and motivate our technology and engineering teams by leveraging

  • emerging technologies, best in class manufacturing systems and safety processes as well as champion

  • Will be an emotionally intelligent leader who remains calm in ambiguous situations and can draw upon their expertise in plant start up and manufacturing.

  • Influential communication and situational leadership skills will be necessary to motivate employees and align leaders from different backgrounds and cultures to achieve the business strategy of Ford, SK and BOSK.

  • The selected candidate should be willing to trave; to South Korea and/or other SK/BOSK plants including travel between TN and KY

  • Strong ability to interface with plant hourly, salaried personnel, and plant management

  • Strong Ability to teach Production System principles

  • Competent in the use of data for decision making

  • Excellent leadership skills with demonstrated ability to resolve diverse problems

  • Work well under pressure and to be able to work under crisis management when necessary

Preferred Qualifications and Key Experiences

  • Education: Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or technical field

  • Area Manager Experience

  • Background in Lean Manufacturing

  • Experience with Greenfield / Startup Sites

Additional Information

Relocation to Tennessee is expected shortly after position acceptance

The successful candidate will be a Ford Secondee to the joint venture. A secondee is an employee who is temporarily transferred to the joint venture although continues their employment with Ford.
