REQUIREMENTS: Qualifications and Education Requirements: -Bachelor's degree in accounting or financial management required. -MBA, related Master's Degree or Certified Public Account certification preferred. -Experience in supervising people and programs, developing K-12 school district budgets and experience in K-12 school district accounting desired. -Advanced knowledge and skill in application of governmental accounting standards and practices. Knowledge of integrated financial management software systems. Working knowledge of School Finance Act of 1994, K-12 funding, and Colorado legal requirements. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Advanced oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. Attention to detail, collaborative problem solving, organizational and analytical skills.

WAGE: Starting annual salary: $85,413 negotiated, dependent on education and experience

DAYS/HOURS: Full time, 12-month position

DUTIES: Job Goal: To keep schools properly maintained and the District fiscally solvent. Essential Functions: Performance Responsibilities: Responsible for initiating and implementing sound management practices to manage and direct the accounting, budgeting, and investment function of the district. Responsible for directing the accounting and budgeting practices and policies of the district to ensure that all financial records are maintained in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, Board of Education policies, and federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Responsible for staying abreast of new and proposed accounting and budgeting principles, regulations, and legislation. Work to identify, adopt, and implement prevailing business practice in order to improve operation efficiency and effectiveness. Maintain budget controls throughout each fiscal year. Collaborate with District administrators and community stakeholders to develop and prepare the annual budget of the District. Provide budget development training and support to schools and departments. Prepare and deliver budget and financial reports to the Board of Education under the direction of the Superintendent, including budget recommendations as conditions change. Responsible for the district's multi-year financial plan and forecasting model. Responsible for staying abreast of economic changes, variables, and the assumptions in regard to the School Finance Act, pupil count information and all necessary and relevant information in order to ensure the fiscal stability of the school district. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with governmental agencies, municipalities, community groups, and other District stakeholders on budget matters, including submission of mandated state and District reports. Manage and analyze District financial data to ensure informed decision-making by the Board of Education. Serve as District's Investment Officer and Debt Administrator. Evaluate and counsel District requests for financial information in relation to District policies and procedures, as well as federal, state, and local school finance laws and regulations. Provide training for District employees on sound financial procedures; audit District schools' and departments' revenues/expenditures. Responsible for the preparation of all financial statements, variance analysis, reporting and projection of balances and other necessary reports for submission to management, Board of Education, and other regulatory and advisory agencies. Manage and analyze district financial and budget data to ensure informed decision making. Prepare and submit, in an accurate, complete, and timely manner, all reports for the Colorado Department of Educati Work with the District's Financial Auditor to ensure timely and accurate completion of the distric 's Annual Financial Audit and mandatory reporting to Colorado Department of Education and other regulatory agencies. Prepare various Requests for Proposals; participate in certain selection determination processes. Assist, participate, and/or facilitate District committees, providing overview of finance considerations and policies interpretations/guidance. Collaborate with District administrators in the preparation of department budgets, projects, and other financial issues. Manage commercial banking relationships. Lead the risk management efforts with regular communication with carriers and brokers regarding property and liability insurance policies. Supervise Business Office staff, of which consists of: Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Payroll. Observe all District policies and procedures. Perform other related duties as assigned.
