JOB REQUIREMENTS: JOB ID: 21185 JOB TITLE: Assistant Professor of Human Anatomy/Human Biology TTC Title and Code: Assistant Professor (FA040) FTE: 100% Principal Work Location: UW-Stevens Point Main Campus Supervisor: Dr. Paul Whitaker, Assistant Dean, School of Biology, Chemistry, and Biochemistry JOB DUTIES: The Assistant Professor of Human Anatomy/Human Biology is a tenure-track, nine-month faculty position in the Department of Biology at the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point. The teaching load is 12 credits per semester (24 credits/year) and will include upper-level courses in human anatomy and introductory biology, especially as they support degree requirements in nursing as well as the Clinical Laboratory Science major, Medical Laboratory Scientist program, and for pre-professional programs in health such as pre-medical, pre-physician assistant, and pre-pharmacy. There is also the possibility of teaching other courses based upon area(s) of interest, specialization, and department needs, including team-teaching gross dissection at an entry-level for the Doctor of Physical Therapy program (under a separate, summer contract). Additional responsibilities include the development of a productive research program involving undergraduates, student advising, and department, school, college, and university-level service. Anticipated Appointment Date: Spring semester, January 2025 (preferred); an August 2025 start could be negotiated, or a May 2025 start date if interested in a separate summer contract team-teaching gross anatomy. ABD candidates will be considered, but in all cases the candidate chosen for the position must have completed all requirements for the doctorate by the beginning of the academic year following the initial employment year, for consideration for retention and tenure. -Experience with and/or demonstrated commitment to high-quality undergraduate education. -Experience with and/or demonstrated commitment to involving undergraduate students in research. -Experience with and/or demonstrated ability to teach lecture-lab courses in human anatomy. -Experience with and/or demonstrated ability to work with full human donors (cadaveric) and appropriate maintenance of all human remains.
