Position Summary

As a Machine Technician in our ID Systems group, you will work directly with our customers to maintain and repair their border management systems , including hardware and software installations and creating documentation. Your work will directly impact the way people flow through borders both at home and abroad.

    What You Will Do

  • M onitor the customers operations and perform basic hardware repair and maintenance of workstations, high-speed and desktop automated printers, laminators, power supplies, UPS batteries, etc. as required ;

  • Triage customer issues and perform 1 st level support for hardware, software and basic networking problems. In addition to that, you will primarily be maintaining, supporting and performing repairs, both preventative and reactive, on specialized custom-built high-speed printers. You’ll ensure that all issues are addressed, escalated (if needed), and resolved within the parameters of CBN’s contractual service level agreement ;

  • B ecome a SME for the entire solution and the high-speed printers and have acquired the skills and knowledge that will allow you to travel independently to customer sites to troubleshoot, plan and perform hardware and software installations, and create documentation that will grow the existing knowledge base ;

  • Travel to customer sites to perf orm preventive maintenance and repairs, and liaise directly with customers

  • Various other duties and responsibilities.

    Qualifications

    Knowledge and Experience

  • Formal education in electrical or mechanical engineering

  • 2-3 years of experience providing client-facing technical support

  • Good problem solving skills

  • Ability to work under pressure

    Mandatory Requirements

  • Ability to obtain and maintain Government of Canada Secret (Level II) clearance.

  • Valid passport

  • Ability to travel to customer sites
