Trinity Health Patient Care Technician - Orthopedic and Bariatric Surgery Unit 4-1 (Day Shift) in Syracuse, New York

Unit 4-1and 4-2 services our Center for Orthopedics and our Accredited Center for Bariatric Services. 4-1 is a 20 bed Medical/Surgical/Telemetry unit caring for patients admitted for orthopedic total joint surgery. 4-2 is an 11-bed unit focusing on the care of our bariatric surgery patient population. Unit 4-6/4-7 is a 17-bed unit that services our Orthopedic and Neurosurgery patients, primarily caring for surgical spine and fracture patients. We incorporate a wellness approach to our primary care nursing model with a team focus to meet the needs of our patient population. Healthgrades rated us Five-Stars for Total Knee Replacement, 13 years running, and awarded us Five-Stars for Total Hip Replacement in 2019. We’re nationally rated as high-performing in knee and hip-replacement surgeries by U.S. News & World Report. St. Joseph’s also earned the Women’s’ Choice Award for America’s Best Hospitals in Bariatric Surgery and Orthopedics.

Day Shift - 7:00am - 7:30pm

POSITION SUMMARY: Delivers direct patient care in collaboration with the Registered Nurse. Performs tasks that do not require nursing judgements or administration of medications.

Duties include, but not limited to: Bedside patient care, vitals, positioning, feeding, Phlebotomy and EKG.

Is accountable for the patient care they deliver. Adheres to St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center standards of care and practice.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:

High School diploma or equivalent with medical background, mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity preferred.

Participates in orientation and continuing education and updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise. Completes population specific competency annually on populations served as identified in scope of care and service.

SPECIAL EQUIPMENT, SKILLS OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Current BLS/CPR certification required and First Aid training. Training will be provided to any new hires who are not previously certified.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND HAZARDS:

Office/Clinical setting. Exposure class I.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Heavy work: requires standing, lifting, pulling, pushing and carrying.

Pay Range: $17.25 - $21.25

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location
