SYRACUSE CITY CORPORATION Land Maintenance Worker (Seasonal) in SYRACUSE, Utah

Job Title:                    Land Maintenance Worker

Department:               Parks and Recreation

Reports To:                Parks Maintenance Crew Lead; and/or Parks Maintenance Worker

Status:                        Seasonal, Non-Exempt (Hourly)

Wage:                         $10.00 per hour

Close Date:                Open Until Filled

Hours:                         40 hours/week, schedule determined by supervisor

 

Position Summary:

Performs a variety of entry level semi-skilled duties related to maintenance, construction, facilities maintenance, parks, detention basins, recreation, cemetery, grounds etc.; Operates a variety of lawn maintenance equipment; Prepare and maintain sports fields; Assists in pruning trees, shrubs and plants; Performs various fertilization techniques using dry and liquid chemicals; Assists in troubleshooting and repairing irrigation systems; Performs a variety of ground maintenance duties; Performs general maintenance to park facilities, i.e. restroom, pavilion, and graffiti/vandalism repair and/or removal to various city-owned properties; May assist in snow removal and irrigation winterization and facility winterization; and other duties as assigned by the Parks Maintenance Crew Lead and/or Park Maintenance Worker.

 

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to regularly lift 50 to 75 pounds
  • Ability to receive and follow instructions

While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to stand, reach with hands and arms, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, use hands to finger, handle or feel, lift or move 50-75 pounds, talk, hear and see. The employee is occasionally required to sit. Specific vision requirements for this position include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to generally loud noise or very loud noise (ex. large earth-moving equipment, lawn mowers, weed trimmers, blowers, etc.) Work is performed primarily in outdoor settings and in all weather conditions. Individual is exposed to chemicals, liquid chemicals, solvents, and oils. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles.

 

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Eighteen (18) years of age or older
  • Valid Driver's License
