The Role

As a Test Engineer in our project team, you will be responsible for

• Creating, enhancing, debugging and running manual Test Cases

• Maintaining manual and automation scripts and writing new reusable scripts or code

• Management of testing environments and software installations

• Issue tracking management and resolution

• Supporting software developers with debugging issues raised from test scenarios during the software development phases

• Adhering to all internal and external quality process standards

• Providing evidence-based testing results to senior members of the project team to successfully sign off application releases

• Developing and executing automated tests using Selenium, TestComplete, Squish or equivalent tools; Additional experience on Visual Studio Test Professional, Microsoft Test Manager and Visual Studio Coded UI (Windows) are welcome

• Specifying and performing non-functional testing including performance testing using JMeter, API testing using Postman, and database testing using SQL Management Studio

• Experience of crafting a team-wide automated test strategy across all layers of the application

• Full engagement in testing-related technical conferences and forums, providing advice, patterns, demos, and expert knowledge to the internal testing communities

The Requirements

• Significant experience of manual testing with demonstrable knowledge of analysis, creation, and execution of test cases within an Agile (SCRUM) project ideally in the Pensions or Insurance industry, or otherwise in the financial sector

• Experience of working in an Agile (SCRUM) environment

• Experience of testing financial software on Windows desktop as well as web technologies

• First-rate analytical, communication & documentation skills in English and attention to detail

• Must be able to work unsupervised, to tight deadlines with a team-oriented ethos

• Some experience and qualifications for automation tester are beneficial

• Automated scripting skills in at least one of these scripting languages (JavaScript, VB, C#) is a plus

• Some knowledge and experience on automation toolsets and environments (Team Foundation Server, Azure DevOps (AzDo), Test Manager or equivalent) are nice to have

• Experience of using Postman or any API testing tool would be beneficial
