Google Auto White Balance Tuning Engineer in Taipei, Taiwan

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 5 years of experience in AWB tuning for consumer products.

  • Experience developing AWB algorithms, tuning, image benchmark, and numerical analysis of consumer camera or computational photography techniques.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • 7 years of experience in AWB tuning.

  • Experience with automation, numerical image analysis, and tool development, or similar image metrics.

  • Experience coding in C/C++ or Python.

  • Understanding of white balance and color knowledge for consumer photography or mobile applications.

In this role, you will be involved in continuous efforts to raise the bar of quality and innovations with Pixel cameras. You will have Auto White Balance (AWB) knowledge and will design excellent features and functions of image systems to make Android cameras pleasant and useful in versatile products. You will cooperate with various stakeholders including hardware, system software, chips developer, algorithm developer to make it happen.

The team works on shaping the future of Pixel devices and services through some of the most advanced designs, techniques, products, and experiences in consumer electronics. This includes bringing together the best of Google’s artificial intelligence, software, and hardware to build global smartphones and create transformative experiences for users across the world.

  • Create Auto White Balance (AWB) algorithm functions suitable with different camera sensors and modules, set up tuning strategies and required tests for validating image tuning, and manage final image quality tuning of Android camera products.

  • Evaluate the AWB architectural design and algorithms for digital photography, computer vision, or machine intelligence scenarios, and commercialize features to set tuning strategy for Google products and features.

  • Work with cross-teams to efficiently understand, cooperate, and set AWB tuning strategies to new features.

  • Develop automation structure, simulator, and tool to empower tuning efficiency.
