About You and this Role

We are looking for aAccounting Specialistto join our team inTerneuzen,The Netherlands.

As Accounting Specialist, you are responsible for accounting and reporting activities in connection with the distribution of materials purchased from Sadara. The scope encompasses the control and the validation of purchases, of sales, as well as the control of inventories and of freight expenses.

Furthermore as Accounting Specialist you assist with the recording, the tracking, the controlling, and the reporting of the operations in scope. You are accountable for one or several work-process, and are the primary Finance interface with multiple Dow work processes and functions (Treasury, APAY, CISS, Supply Chain, Commercial, Cost Accounting, Business Management…). You manage the relationship with Sadara for the activities in scope. You work in a team whose mandate is to ensure compliance to the PMLA distribution agreement.

Responsibilities

  • Execute the work-processes in scope; these pertain to inventory valuation, inventory controls, the analysis of logistic costs and the related reporting.

  • Ensure timely invoicing and track payments both incoming and outgoing.

  • Perform data analysis and data validation (completeness, accuracy). Promptly escalate defects or matters. Lead their resolution.

  • Reconcile accounting balances with source system and/or with Sadara.

  • Perform specific tasks to secure timely transmission of information to the concerned business partners.

  • Assist with the monthly and annual closing (accruals, valuations, reclassifications…) and adjustment to the GR-IR valuation.

  • Understand and apply accounting principles commensurate with areas of responsibility.

  • Ensure compliance to the contract and proper internal controls.

  • Assist with the addressing of both internal and external audits.

  • Support leadership team with various activities, projects, and procedure adaptations.

  • Assist in the preparation of ad-hoc presentations and analysis related to the PMLA Financial Compliance Group activities.

  • Responsible for the work process documentation and the work process improvements for the activities in scope.

  • Interface as required with Dow businesses for the understanding of the transactions in scope.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or in Business Administration

  • 2 or 3 years of prior work experience preferable in an accounting department.

  • Fluent in Dutch, in English (both written and spoken)

  • Strong analytical skills.

  • Accurate, attention to details.

  • Capacity to prioritize tasks to meet strict deadlines.

  • Discipline in applying accounting policies and procedures.

  • Team spirit and collaboration mindset.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Prior experience with SAP systems or another ERP.

  • Mastery of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel and word).

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in Controllers work processes, systems & tools, preferred.
