Purpose/Introduction

The Finance Department aims to be a trusted partner that adds value by protecting the company’s financial integrity, guiding sound business decisions and offering enriching careers in a collaborative workplace. Finance oversees financial planning and fiscal management for Chevron Phillips Chemical including accounting, financing activities, planning, and tax compliance. The department provides financial information, policy analyses and recommendations that drive sound decision-making.

Chevron Phillips Chemical Company is seeking to fill a Data Analyst position at its corporate headquarters in The Woodlands. This position will be a part of the Finance Data Analytics Center of Excellence (CoE) and report to the Data Analytics Manager within the Finance organization. The Finance Data Analytics CoE serves as a conduit between Finance, Digital and IT to align and progress digital initiatives as well as understand new tools / technologies as they become available.

Eligible for 9/80 and Hybrid Model: This position is eligible for 9/80s and the Hybrid Model with work from home days on Tuesdays and Fridays. This position is involved with various monthly financial closing activities and budgeting activities that may be required to work in the office or at home on certain workdays accordingly.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a business liaison to capture business requirements, provide analysis, assist in developing techno-functional specifications, prepare for and execute testing

  • Build strong multi-functional relationships and get recognized as a data engineer / science subject matter expert among other teams.

  • Collaborating across teams to solve challenging, high-value analytical problems.

  • Sharing and incorporating best practices from the industry using new and upcoming tools and technologies

  • Provide in-depth support to the analysis of Finance data and development of key reporting utilizing an array of technologies like Power BI.

  • Proactively and creatively obtains data and knowledge needed for data modeling and assists in developing and maintaining complex financial models

  • Provide in-depth support in the analysis of Finance data and development of key reporting utilizing an array of technologies.

  • Comfortable to work with large datasets, building Power BI reports that are consumed by finance department.

  • Hands-on skills and experience with Alteryx Designer, effectively leveraging its tools to transform and harmonize data.

  • Hands-on experience in coding and modifying SQL, ETL, and Alteryx-based workflows, with a focus on developing transformative workflows.

  • Ability to support User Acceptance Testing by addressing technical queries, resolving data defects, and obtaining signoff from business teams.

  • Strong problem-solving skills for managing and analyzing large volumes of data.

  • Capability to evaluate, design, and implement solutions based on technical requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with minimum 1 year of experience in Accounting, Finance, Business or other related major (MBA is a plus)

  • Strong business analytical skills, accuracy and attention to detail

  • Experience with business intelligence applications, for example Power BI and Alteryx

  • Possess sophisticated financial analytical abilities and business acumen

  • Detail-oriented, with the ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple projects with competing deadlines

  • Strong interpersonal skills and be able to demonstrate the ability to communicate with employees at all organizational levels

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with cross functional teams within organizations

  • Eager to learn new tools and technologies

  • Knowledge and experience with SAP & Planful is a plus

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Experience in petrochemicals or oil and gas.
