Purpose/Introduction (continued)

We are seeking an Operational Excellence Reviews Specialist at our headquarters in The Woodlands, Texas. The successful candidate will report to the Manager – Reviews, Audits and Assessment in the Corporate Environmental, Health, Safety & Security (EHSS) organization.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates environmental, health, and safety excellence

  • Conducts periodic audits of potentially hazardous work areas, operations, and work practices

  • Plans and facilitates scheduled Corporate Operational Excellence System Reviews, US OSHA PSM and EPA RMP Compliance Audits, Operational Readiness Reviews, and Third-party EHS Assessments

  • Provides technical expertise in the auditing of Process Safety Management and Risk Management Program systems

  • Prepares written audit/review reports for management review

  • Provides Corporate Review/Audit response planning, tracking, guidance, and support

  • Develops and/or updates company Operational Excellence and regulatory compliance audit protocols

  • Maintains and enhances established company review/audit standards and guidelines and training programs

  • Develops and/or updates regulatory compliance guidance

  • Reviews and evaluates written procedures, programs, and plans

  • Manages Findings, Observations and Recommendations action plans in KMS

  • Compiles audit/review data and trending analyses

  • Plans, facilitates, and participates in instructor-led Guest Reviewer/Auditor training classes

  • Assists in review and development of new and existing Global OE Standards

  • Develops annual budget

  • Drives continuous improvement, implementation, and maintenance of policies/procedures

  • Represents the organization on EHS committees and best practice teams

  • Participates in the development and implementation of Company risk management strategies

  • Influences the development or relevant regulations, standards and recommended practices

  • Drives sustainability on matters pertaining to risk management (PDCA Models)

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Health, Safety & Fire Protection, or a closely related field

  • Must have at least 7 years auditing experience or equivalent in EHS regulatory compliance in the petrochemical/chemical industry, including process safety management

  • Proficiency with MS Office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Must possess strong technical skills in recognizing underlying risk and cultural factors affecting EHS Compliance through audit results

  • Must possess strong leadership and facilitation skills and be proficient at analyzing and solving complex problems

  • Must be highly motivated and be a self-starter able to handle multiple tasks concurrently as well as work with limited supervision

  • Must have proficient reading comprehension skills, persuasive communication skills, both oral and written, as well as strong interpersonal skills; ability to listen well is also essential

  • Must have a passion to excel, be customer focused and results driven, and have the ability to effectively collaborate and work with personnel at various levels throughout the company

  • Must be able to travel, both domestically and internationally, 40-50% of the time and up to 3 weeks at a time.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer, Certified Safety Professional, Registered Environmental Manager, and/or Certified Professional Auditor
