TEKsystems Central Office Technician in Timonium, Maryland

Description:

Our client specializes in 4 major telecommunications categories- LMR (Land Mobile Radio, IBS (In-Building Systems/IDAS), ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems), and Physical Security.

They have a number of In-Building projects that they will work on over the next few years, this includes the construction and maintenance of In-Building wireless access points. They are currently supporting projects in the Federal, State, and Local government, as well as education, transportation, and healthcare fields.

They are looking for a Central Office Technician that has had 2+ years of experience specific within the wireless space. This candidate will be supporting our client's customers that are tied into a cellular network. This person must have low volt coax install, testing, troubleshooting, racking and stacking, dressing, and labeling experience. They should also have fiber experience. They will be working with this carrier's network teams to help problem solve and resolve any network outages. They would also like this technician to be able to train other technicians in the field. This will allow our client's team to expand.

If they have radio installation and troubleshooting experience that will also transfer well to this team.

DAS experience is nice but not a must for this role. If they have worked with 1/2" coax, as well as OEM's like Corning, Commscope, SOLiD, ADRF, and Mobile Access that would be ideal.

The majority of the workload for the Central Office Technician is currently in the BWI airport area.

Top Skills Details:

  1. 2+ years of cable installation experience, including coax but also fiber, Central Office experiences as well, including ticketing systems, routers, and switches.

  2. Experience working overseeing ISP cable/Network cable construction, including rack and stack, terminations, testing of coax and fiber optic cables.

  3. Experience leading technicians in the field, taking initiative, troubleshooting, problem solving, and ticket prioritization.

  4. Client facing/must be a face of the company in the field.
