Summary This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) Facilities and the Major Range and Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. Responsibilities Operate flange facing machines, drills, grinders, punch presses, and/or cutting machines. Repair work from simple plans, sketches, and detailed specifications, and use standard procedures to solve problems involved in assemblies of equipment. Perform general maintenance of all machine tools and other equipment. Assist in the installation, dismantling, or relocation of machinery at the direction of higher graded workers. Determine various metals needed for a given repair job as specified in a job order or bill of materials. Diagnose excessive wear and tear of equipment. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Production Machinery Repairer without more than normal supervision: Testing machinery and equipment through the use of devices such as levels and gauges, perform minor repairs to installed industrial machinery such as power saws, drill presses, and milling machines, and use portable machine and hand tools to complete routine repairs.- Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. To meet the basic eligibility, you must receive at least two points on the screen-out element indicated above and must have an average of two points on all the job elements listed below. Incumbents are required to push, pull, reach, walk, stand, crawl, kneel, bend, and climb for sustained periods of time. Sometimes works in tiring and uncomfortable positions. WORKING CONDITIONS Work is performed inside; worker is subject to electrical shock and burns; cuts and abrasions when using hand tools in confined places; eye and hand injuries from power tools and skin irritations from certain types of oils and detergents. Incumbent is required to wear safety clothing and equipment appropriate for this position. Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
