Amazon Finance Manager, JP Amazon Pay, Amazon Pay Finance in Tokyo, Japan

Description

The Finance Manager will be a key member of the WW Amazon Pay Finance team expected to primarily cover the whole JP business supporting current and new activities through strong finance support to JP Amazon Pay businesses partners and teams (Go To Market, Sales, Account Management, Products and Marketing).

The right candidate will be self-motivated, have strong business judgment, have considerable financial acumen and keen to work in an environment that offers opportunity to (re)implement and (re)think every process as per Amazon Day 1 DNA. This role requires the ability to interact and collaborate with cross-functional teams including sales, client account management, program management/GTM (Go To Market), integration, products and marketing. The candidate must be able to balance challenging priorities, meet tight deadlines and provide insights and recommendations backed by data driven analysis. This role will also work with other functional stakeholders such as accounting, legal, compliance, tax, to manage risk and ensure processes result in compliance.

While the candidate will work closely with global WW Amazon Pay finance team, the candidate will first need to work with JP business team to meet JP specific requirements including (1) to understand and work on project to improve Cost of Payment (COP) working with Product Managers and JP Amazon Payments team, (2) perform financial simulation for new products such as National Tax Agency, which is new to Amazon Pay business, and entering BtB segments, etc. (3) JP unique buyer marketing activities to maximize buyer engagement including lottery type campaign and Prime Day campaigns. Also, Amazon Pay will introduce a new business model called cPSP, aiming to increase number of stores as a global business strategy. The candidate will perform financial analysis to determine pricing that works for all parties (Amazon, partners, merchants).

The candidate will also have a chance to support the JP Amazon Payments business on an adhoc basis, with scalable impact to JP business outside of Amazon Pay.

Key job responsibilities

• Implement a strong controllership environment and improve controls over operational and financial metrics

• Identify opportunities to improve, scale, or simplify finance tools and processes across teams and organizations by bringing automation for models and reporting

• Top to bottom P&L ownership, driving profitable volume growth and OPEX optimization

• Support and contribute to recurring activities such as Month End Close and Planning cycles (5YP/OP1/OP2/Guidances)

• Work closely with business partners and teams to deliver insightful recommendations to achieve financial goals and drive success

• Support deal desk in JP and contribute to the deal approval process by providing profitability analysis and pricing guidance to teams

• Use solid financial knowledge and business acumen to create financial models to support the team in their business decisions: deal approving, business development, partnership negotiations

About the team

Amazon Pay Finance team is WW structured with team members being spread across the world (EU/US/JP). We support Amazon Pay business which is Amazon's externally-facing payment solution for merchants, facilitating payment transactions between Amazon customers and (external) merchants in the US, EU, and Japan. Buyers find Amazon Pay as an option when paying on a merchant’s site, store, app, or with an Alexa skill, and will pay using the information in their Amazon accounts. Amazon Pay Finance sits within Amazon Payments (AP) which is responsible for building, maintaining and ensuring the security of the Payments platform used across all of Amazon’s Consumer organization (excluding India) and enabling it to be used more broadly across other parts of Amazon.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field

  • 5+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience

  • 5+ years of building financial and operational reports/data sets that inform business decision-making experience

  • 5+ years of creating process improvements with automation and analysis experience

  • Relevant experience in a finance role including partnering with a variety of stakeholders across the business

  • Relevant experience working with Excel and/or large-scale data mining and reporting tools

  • Relevant experience in financial modelling

  • Fluent Japanese and Business level English

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA/CFA/CPA Preferred

  • Exceptional analytical skills and advanced knowledge of Excel with demonstrated ability to build financial models and create business cases

  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment

  • Ability to work with senior leadership

  • Solid experience in problem solving and root cause analysis

  • Detail oriented and a demonstrated strong sense of business management; ability to develop new ideas and ability to deliver solutions

  • Ability to meet tight deadlines, prioritize workload and achieve effective results in a fast-paced, dynamic, ever-growing and often ambiguous environment

  • Demonstrated effective communication and writing skills in working with peers and business leaders

  • Experience working with data mining and reporting tools (i.e. SQL and Cognos)

  • Demonstrated financial and/or analytical experience including familiarity with concepts of forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and/or data interpretation and analysis
