Quality Assurance Testing Specialist is responsible for leveraging testing methodologies and practices, analyze requirements/stories, design testing strategies, coordinate across mutliple streams and applications, work with Agile teams to develop testing and automation solutions.

As an active collaborator across different project teams, the incumbent is responsible for leading standups, discussions & retrospectives from QA perspective and is expected to use testing best practices to evolve the product solution and ensure working products are delivered seamlessly with quality and within budget and timelines

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

  • Conducts and adjusts testing methods and practices to assess and evolve product

  • Design test approach, Develop Test Strategies and Plans. Select appropriate test tools. Align test cases to requirements and user stories.

  • In conjunction with the development team, collaborate, design and build automated and manual tests, develop/create test data, construct and execute exploratory, system, regression, migration, back-end, and user acceptance tests, and determine whether to create any complex environments or any major improvements for the automation frameworks.

  • Ability to review and understand complex business, lines of business and adjacent processes covering end to end journeys.

  • Write clear and concise defect reports and work as an empathetic advocate for the customer’s quality experience. Triage and prioritize defects for remediation, with the Product Owner and development team.

  • Conduct exploratory testing to find bugs that other testing means would not find during every sprint and drive testing workshops.

  • Wherever possible, conduct functional test and ensure their readability (clear, succinct, and using common business jargon) as well as tests must be maintainable (built with reusable domain specific testing language components)

  • Working knowledge in Automation frameworks and automating test scenarios. (Selenium, testNG, any one of behavior driven development(BDD) or Test driven development(TDD frameworks like Cucumber), API testing tools)

  • Interacts with business and documents business requirements traceability to design test scripts.

  • Ability to produce dashboards and reports for sprints or code releases.

  • Analyze industry best practices to recommend improvements to methodology, test environments and workflow to promote an efficient and cost-effective UAT process.

  • Collaborate actively with the development team, Product Owners, B/As and working with wider test community across test partners

  • Embed with development teams and infuse quality in every phase of the software development lifecycle by providing continuous feedback from QA standpoint regarding standards, user experience, possible performance issues, and future bugs.

  • Participate in product design and requirements analysis, work with the team during project planning to accurately estimate work (data creation, test cases/acceptance test design, test execution, framework design/improvements, scripting tasks, setup environments, etc) and scope release deliverables (prioritizing defects and bugs).

  • Lead end user focused testing activities and inform how product needs to be evolved

  • Create and execute acceptance criteria based on requirements, assessing usefulness of test cases and adjusting approach where required

  • Troubleshoot when problems arise and contribute to their resolution in a hands-on manner when necessary

  • Associate degree or B.S. in Computer Science, Information Technology or Equivalent Education / Work experience

  • QA Test Analyst - 6+ years of experience with minimum 3 years of experience in Test Lead capacity

  • Experience in analyzing testing scope and developing work estimates

  • Significant experience of test planning management and test execution

  • Experience in creating Test Strategies/Test Plans within large scale and complex portfolios

  • Strong analysis and significant testing skills encompassing testing

  • Extensive background and experience in system testing including test automation

  • UI/Database/Backend hands on testing experience

  • Experience working in Cloud and mainframe applications

  • Experience working with both Agile methodology and Waterfall SDLC

  • Good working knowledge of JIRA, confluence

  • Ability to provide clear technical leadership whilst working collaboratively with a wider solution across test partners

  • Extensive experience writing test documentation such as Test Plans, scripts and test results reports

  • Ability to analyze/interpret test results and provide recommendations for production implementation and to improve testing

  • Strong communication skills – explain things clearly to members of the lab and conduct stand ups

  • Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills, using creativity and attention to detail to develop testing solutions that help proactively uncover issues, find bugs and assess product with the end user in mind.

  • Strategic thinking ability enabling the selection of optimal testing solutions (smart vs mass testing)

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced and rapidly changing work environment

  • The individual requires good oral and written communication skills and proven ability to: represent testing status/issues/make presentations to varied groups; deal with all levels of line management; and conveying clear and compelling project artifacts.

  • Openness to ideas, willingness to take on any task or role, focus on the customer, and a constant view of the big picture

Dimensions:

  • Day to day decisions regarding approaches to testing are handled independently by the incumbent.

  • Incumbent has authority to approve and promote code and code related changes to multiple UAT environments.

  • Incumbent is responsible for approval of some recommendations for strategic resource planning. Recommendations for the resolution of more complex issues are presented for management.

  • Priorities must be constantly evaluated and reorganized daily

  • Tight deadlines necessitate arriving at decisions/recommendations within minutes. Problems encountered can have a major impact on the integrity of projects delivered to the Production environment. Corrective action must be based on an accurate risk analysis.

  • Direction is provided by the Senior Manager for issues requiring management intervention.

  • Project end dates are often dictated by the need for timely delivery of new products. It is imperative that testing is completed in the allotted timeframe, covering as much functionality as is necessary to prove the system will operate efficiently in Production and, where there is evidence of deficiencies, identify the impact prior to the code being promoted.

  • The incumbent must address detailed planning for projects within a short time frame
