Universal Health Services Charge System Analyst in TREDYFFRIN, Pennsylvania

The UHS Corporate Business Office is seeking a dynamic and talented Charge System Analyst.

The Charge System Analyst monitors the resolution of charge maintenance or enhancement issues assigned by the UHS Customer Support Center. Implements modifications to existing applications that will effectively accomplish desired objectives. Works with other teams as necessary to facilitate appropriate charge generation. Provides technical support to UHS entities as needed. Participate with Corp IS and field initiatives while prioritizing the workload to meet deadlines and ensure continued progress toward assignment completion.

Key Responsibilities include:

System Implementation

Activities:

  • Works with the Corporate Revenue Cycle Team to assure UHS Standard Chargemaster complies with current charge methodology regulations requirements and coding principles.

  • Ensures mapping of orderable to chargemaster billing codes (CDM) in Cerner Millennium Pricing Tool is accurate.

  • Regularly meets with users, vendors, and IS staff to develop/modify system specifications.

  • Participates in and performs testing as needed to validate functionality and design according to specifications.

  • Review and resolve all suspended charges daily.

  • Assist with updating CDM, CPT, ICD10 changes, and monitoring charge-related operation jobs as new projects arise.

  • Performs system testing and documentation for all phases of the application development life cycle.

  • Performs Q/A on application functionality.

  • Researches and resolves implementation-related Customer Support Center Tickets.

  • Adheres to Revenue Cycle Policies and procedures

  • Ensures strict adherence to work plans, reporting all critical deviations to management.

    System Maintenance/Support

    Activities:

  • Researches and resolves Customer Support Center Tickets, including major application upgrades.

  • Adheres to UHS Service Level and Change Control Management Policies.

  • Develops and maintains PowerForms utilized for charge generation.

  • Maintains Charging tool suites, so the build is in sync with the standard chargemaster in compliance with regulatory guidance.

  • Establishes and maintains regular communications with the user community.

  • Prepares reports as needed.

  • Provides on-call support as needed.

    Administration and Oversight

    Activities:

  • Provides technical support and guidance to other team members as required.

  • Maintains Service Excellence principles.

  • Prepares and promptly submits all routine and special reports, including weekly status and BrightWorks updates.

  • Keeps management well informed of activities, needs, and problems.

  • Performs other tasks as required by management.

    Qualifications

    Experience & Knowledge:

  • An Associate's degree is required; however, significant (3+ relevant) years of experience will be accepted in lieu of education.

  • One or more years in the healthcare industry is preferred, preferably in revenue cycle, patient accounting, or similar areas. Demonstrate proficient knowledge of CPT and HCPCS coding, hospital billing requirements, medical terminology, and charge methodology. Experience working with Cerner Millennium Charge Service Tools in both the maintenance and design phases, including testing, training, and support. Basic understanding of SQL or CCL (Cerner Command Language) facilitates custom queries and reports for auditing purposes. Experience with Cerner Charge Transformation Tool and how to revise charges in the Charge Services suite.

    Skills:

  • General working knowledge of computer systems analysis and programming techniques and procedures, including consulting with users to determine hardware, software, or system functional specifications; design, development, documentation, analysis, testing, or modification of computer systems based on and related to user design specifications.

  • Working knowledge of IS standards and quality methods and metrics.

  • General familiarity of user business practices, concepts, and terminology sufficient to support the application.

  • Developed computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite.

  • Detail-oriented ability to work independently, decision-making skills, computer literacy, with demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.

    Travel Requirements: 40% domestic US travel (depending on projects).
