About the role

Our department Future Concepts is at the forefront of advancing and analyzing next generation sustainable aero engine concepts and system capabilities. We also support our business and marketing organizations with input for decision-making and strategic plans.. We are looking for a manager of the Future Concepts department to lead the development of the concepts and new technologies required by the next generation of jet engines. The purpose of the Future Concepts department is to grow knowledge in the area of future aircraft and engine concepts analysis and studies and methods and tools for aerothermal design and analysis.

Place of employment and travel requirements This position is based in Trollhättan, Sweden, as such, the applicant should be able to gain the right to live and work in Sweden. Travel to other locations within Sweden as well as EU is expected.

Job Responsibilities

• Complete management of the department employees and facilities. This includes, but not limited to, health and safety of department personnel

as well as any visiting people in relation to the department. • Maturation and development of strong relations with national and international ecosystem within field of the department. • Drive innovation and the associated step to secure Intellectual Property. • Delivering key method solutions to the technology projects. • Identifying new R&D programme opportunities which allow GKN to develop those technologies important to the technology strategy. • Contribute to defining the detailed content of new R&T programmes. • Establishing and maintaining strategic technology relationship/partnerships with key customers, companies, and academic bodies within the responsibilities of the department. • Contribute to strengthening the linkage between technology and the

Person Specification

You have a background as an engineer with proven leadership skills with a broad and deep understanding (and have a strong interest for the discipline) of aircraft concept design, gas turbines, turbomachinery, thermodynamics, programming, fluid mechanics and compressible flow. You are also a problem solver who gets energized when facing technical challenges.

Job Qualifications

• PhD in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering or other relevant engineering field. • Well-proven people leadership skills • At least 10 years of professional experience in the aerospace industry • Deep understanding of flight mechanics, in thermodynamics, gas dynamics, aerodynamics, turbomachinery, performance analysis,

and experience with relevant software • You are proficient in the Swedish and English language
