Summary

The Ticketing Application Team is responsible for ensuring the various guest, parking, and valet entry systems are delivering a stable and fast service, whether it is E-commerce or at a POS. As a member of the team, you will help build, troubleshoot, and operate a wide variety of applications and ensure system uptime, responsiveness, and security. The Sr. Application Engineer role is an application owner and technical lead for projects. In addition, the Sr. Application Engineer will provide technical support relating to park ticketing systems. Sr. Application Engineers play a critical role that may include the analysis of business needs, research of potential solutions, leverage enterprise systems, coordinate, and drive solutions with third party vendors, collaborate on standard operating procedures, and transition support to the Parks Operations teams. You will work with a high-performance team that operates cross coasts which consists of Financial Analysts, Business Analysts, Operations Management, Engineers, Sr. Engineers, Lead Engineers, Architects, Project Managers, and Quality Engineers on deploying, operating, and contributing to new innovations as well as working on stabilizing, monitoring, and improving existing systems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide L2 to L3 support for day-to-day systems operations

  • Provide 365-day 24/7 to support the year-round business of Universal Studios Hollywood Theme Park operations including holidays and weekends; Support requires an on-call rotation within the team

  • Provide support for various hardware and software maintenance

  • Analyze, design, document, and configure existing applications

  • Ensure support queue is effectively managed and maintained via ServiceNow and Jira

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to establish proper standard operating procedures

  • Collaborate with Leads, Project Managers, and Business Analysts in planning and supporting new technologies

  • Collaborate with Quality Engineers to ensure proper testing and performance testing is completed before rollout

  • Coordinate with other technical staff (Internal and external) to provide expertise toward driving solutions

  • Ensure proper communication is sent to all business stakeholders, technical staff, and executive team

  • Assist in the definition, configuration, support, and documentation of software’s business requirements, objectives, deliverables, and specifications on a project-by-project basis in collaboration with internal users and departments

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field; alternatively, 5 years related experience, or equivalent combination of education (related certificates, or training) and experience

  • 3+ years of work experience in an IT support function

  • 3+ years of experience with SQL (i.e., MS SQL) or 1+ year(s) of experience with MS SQL certification(s)

  • Possess technical knowledge with IIS, Akamai, security certificates, server farms, load balancing, content management systems, responsive design, Adobe Analytics, or other related items in relation to web applications and/or E-commerce platforms

  • Strong organizational and time management skills to effectively contribute to multiple projects in an efficient manner

  • Strong record of accomplishment of meeting targets and objectives

  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high availability environment

  • Ability to manage a high volume of tasks with excellent accuracy

  • Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

  • Ability to communicate and work collaboratively effectively with members of interdisciplinary teams

  • Ability to understand and decipher large text-based logs from various sources (SQL, Windows, XML, JSON, etc.)

  • Results oriented with a history of problem resolution and prevention

Desired Characteristics

  • Flexible and adaptable with regards to learning and understanding new technologies

  • Excellent understanding of MS SQL database, efficient query planning and execution, and other best practices; Other key MS SQL knowledge - triggers, stored procedures, jobs, SSIS, and SSRS

  • 2+ years of experience supporting a large POS application; Gateway Ticketing System(s) (Galaxy) preferred

  • 2+ years of experience supporting a large E-commerce web; Desktop and mobile

  • Possess technical knowledge of general networking (VIPs, firewalls, VLANs, and NATs)

  • Understanding of payment processing on-prem and ecommerce (Credit cards, and PayPal)

  • Windows Server 2008-2019 Administration Experience (review, troubleshoot, patch, user access reviews, and IIS)

  • Experience with IT Service Management Tools (ServiceNow or Jira)

  • Hospitality industry experience preferred

  • Strong interdisciplinary communication skills

  • Exceptional technical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities

  • Effectively handle sensitive and confidential matters

  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws preferred (GDPR, CCPA, etc.)

Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.

This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks.
