Build Technician

Pay Grade:

S1

Job Description:

The Build Technician will work with Operations and Quality to support the production e-axles, transmissions, carriers, transfer cases, wheel ends, and brakes. Responsibilities include completing prototype and production units with respect to the sales and operation forecast. In addition, the Build Technician will support test set-up, production set-up, tool and facility maintenance, and/or prototype build support when needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute low-volume production assembly of e-axles, transmissions, carriers, transfer cases, and wheel ends.

  • Support of low-volume prototype assembly as-required

  • Offer continuous improvement and process improvement ideas

  • Operate end of line test station equipment

  • Manage daily workflow to meet delivery schedules

  • Ability to become a certified hi-lo driver

  • Implement and actively support safety policies and initiatives

  • Maintain equipment and orderliness of work environment

  • Will be cross trained in other areas of the facility in various jobs/duties

  • Support of maintaining manufacturing and facility equipment

  • Other assignments as required by Supervisor

  • Meet safety metrics on the build floor

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma

Experience:

  • Minimum two years of experience in heavy-duty or automotive repair or assembly. Transmission or axle experience preferred.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Basic mechanical aptitude

  • Proficiency with computer operation, including Microsoft Office tools

  • Experienced in following work instructions and quality documentation

  • Skilled in using hand, pneumatic, and hydraulic tools

  • Ability to use calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, feeler gauges and torque wrenches

Travel or Physical Demand:

  • Ability to walk, stand and maneuver throughout full workday

  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
