Description of Duties:

The Head Women's Soccer Coach & Staff Assistant will support the mission of SUNY Poly through leading and managing the operations for SUNY Poly's NCAA DIII varsity women's soccer program and assisting with athletics operations for the athletic program. These operations could include assisting with our Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and assisting with off-season home event management. This position will report to the Director of Athletics. The SUNY Poly athletics program is an NCAA III member of the North Atlantic Conference (NAC). Responsibilities will include:

  • Effectively coach, direct, and manage all aspects of the varsity women's soccer program to include, but not limited to, development of soccer skill-sets for women's soccer student-athletes; recruitment and retention of student-athletes participating in the women's soccer program; serving as a mentor to student-athletes; management, leadership, and supervision of practices and all game day activities; management and oversight of women's soccer team travel; nominate women's soccer student-athletes for recognition and awards; monitor team fiscal activities; manage team uniforms and equipment; manage fundraising initiatives for the women's soccer program;

  • Ensure that the varsity women's soccer team meets all NCAA, NAC, SUNY, and institutional compliance standards;

  • Remain apprised of NCAA playing rules updates;

  • Ensure that the women's soccer program represents SUNY Poly in the best possible way on and off of the field, in the classroom, and in the community;

  • Assist with Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and home game/match event operations to include, but not limited to, managing all SAAC meetings and group initiatives (including community service) and the development of Team Supporting Team program, and serving as a site representative and filling in where needed for designated home contest management duties;

  • Assist with athletics-sponsored events, i.e., Golf Tournaments, Athletics Awards Celebrations, Hall of Fame Induction, Wildcat Weekend, etc.

  • Communicate regularly with administrators, athletic training staff, support staff, head coaches, assistant coaches, student-athletes;

  • Serve on appropriate and applicable campus committees;

  • Collaborate with campus partners, i.e., Facilities, Custodial, University Police, Residence Life, Campus Activities, Admissions, Wellness Center, etc for athletics program needs;

  • Engage with SUNY Poly Women's Soccer and athletics alumni/ae and friends of the programs;

  • Work collaboratively and effectively with a diverse student-athlete, student, faculty, staff, and community population;

  • Play an integral part in the on-campus recruitment of all student-athletes, including Women's Soccer student-athletes;

  • Complete performance management feedback and goals per requirements;

  • Other reasonable duties, as assigned.

The primary location for this position is in Utica, with possible travel to other operating locations.

    Job Requirements:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree is required from college or University accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization;

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience coaching soccer, preferably at the collegiate level;

  • Experience in sports communications and athletics operations;

  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid Certifications, or ability to obtain upon hire;

  • Ability to lift, carry, etc up to 50 pounds;

  • Experience managing student employees and/or assistant coaches;

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs;

  • Excellent teaching, verbal, written, and computer communication skills;

  • Familiarity with NCAA, Conference, and University rules and regulations

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that could include mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays in order to complete assigned tasks;

  • Ability to provide leadership, oversight, and direction to staff members to ensure that goals, programs, activities, and personnel practices are consistent with and contribute to the Institution's goals and strategies;

  • Proven experience in the academic, athletics, and interpersonal growth of student-athletes, their recruitment, and their retention
