[]{#_Hlk481138035}Essential Functions:

Reporting to the supervisor, the Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of multiple pieces of construction equipment. The Equipment Operator is proficient in the use of a diverse range of construction equipment, including, Excavators, Loaders, Dozers, Rollers, Graders, Backhoes, Skid Steers and Concrete Curb & Gutter Machine and other pieces of equipment.

Competencies

The responsibilities of the Equipment Operator include, but are not limited to:

Equipment Operation

Capable of operating multiple pieces of construction equipment used in water and sewer construction, base preparation and construction, and paving.

Operate all heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner.

Perform daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment.

Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment, and clean, lubricate and refill the equipment as necessary.

Maneuver heavy equipment into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew as needed; check that the vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is properly positioned.

Ensure a sound understanding of the issues involving ground disturbance.

Use various pieces of equipment to perform fine grading and finishing, sloping and banking, backfilling, demolition, ditching, loading, excavating and stockpiling.

Operate equipment on public roadways, maintaining proper awareness of ones surroundings.

Perform routine cleaning and maintenance to ensure smooth operation of the equipment.

Train new employees in the safe and efficient operation of construction equipment.

Other construction related duties as required.

Must possess your own equipment key.

Promote, execute and adhere to the companys safety program, and encourage all employees, sub-contractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.

Attend weekly safety meetings and inspections.

Work with the Safety Department to investigate damage, incidents or near misses in the worksite; and ensure proper procedures are carried out according to the Companys Safety Program.

Work in a safe, responsible manner to not intentionally or unintentionally injure oneself, or endanger the wellbeing of others.

Required Education and Experience

High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred

2 to 3 years experience operating a diverse range of construction equipment is required.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Must possess a valid Drivers License.

Must be a team player.

Knowledge of heavy equipment operation.

Knowledge of road construction materials, road construction processes and industry requirements.

Understanding of computerized and electronics.

Demonstrate time management.

Demonstrate Interpersonal and Commination skills.

Must possess a sense of urgency to meet deadlines.

Must be able to Multi-task and set priorities effectively.

Excellent hand, eye and foot coordination.

Possess a positive CAN DO attitude.

Working Conditions

Work in performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, cold, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
