Watauga Meats & Butchery, LLC Meat Cutter/Butcher's Assistant in Vilas, North Carolina

Watauga Butchery is an expanding USDA inspected processing facility whose core focus is Local Food Elevated. Only the highest quality butchery and value-added services for locally sourced, pasture-raised meats are produced. Our skilled and passionate team, directed by chefs, takes pride in working together to consistently exceed the expectations of our customers and community.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Receive, inspect, and store meat upon delivery to company and USDA standards.
  • Accurately debone whole animals, cut, grind, and portion with speed and efficiency, meeting daily production needs, company, and customer specifications.
  • Neatly package, weigh, label and box meat products with care.
  • Safely store meats in refrigerators and freezers according to procedures.
  • Uphold health and sanitation standards of the company, USDA, and HACCP at all times.
  • Equipment maintenance and cleaning according to procedures manual.
  • Assist with customer service and inventory management adhering to procedures.
  • Assist with projects, events, and initiatives across all company divisions.
  • Participate in team meetings helping to advance the company's core focus and values.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Regularly perform physically demanding tasks, including: standing for long periods, walking, using hands for intricate tasks, reaching with hands and arms, talking or hearing, and using senses of taste and smell.
  • Occasional activities such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and reach from 6-72 inches.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and reach from 6-72 inches.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color perception, and depth perception.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Constantly work in a fast-paced, cold environment.
  • Frequent exposure to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts.
  • Frequent exposure to extreme cold during the handling of finished products in and out of the freezer.
  • Moderate to loud noise levels in the work environment.
