Marine Electrician I

Purpose:

  • Continental Tide has an immediate need for a Marine Electrician I who will be a key support to our Fleet Services Group. The location of this position is in Virginia Beach, VA.

Job Description:

  • The Marine Electrician will be responsible for supporting shipboard operations by leveraging practical shipboard experience with HM&E systems and equipment. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to troubleshoot and diagnose issues with shipboard electronic and electrical systems and equipment, as well as understand and interpret electrical schematics and installation drawings. Experience with NAVSEA cableway and connectorization is highly desirable, and certification in this area is a plus. Technical expertise with power generation and transmission equipment, as well as motorized valve actuators, is essential. Additionally, experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), fiber optics, and integrated network systems is preferred.

Required Experience:

Qualifications:

  • Must possess a high school, trade, or vocational school degree.

  • 3 years of direct experience in ship repair and installation of Hull, Mechanical & Electrical (HM&E) systems and equipment.

  • Ability to read and interpret ship installation drawings, installation specifications and NAVSEA Standard Items is preferred.

  • Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose issues with shipboard electronic and electrical systems and equipment.

  • Familiarity with electrical schematics and installation drawings.

  • Experience with NAVSEA cableway and connectorization practices.

  • Technical expertise with power generation and transmission equipment, and motorized valve actuators.

  • Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), fiber optics, and integrated network systems is preferred.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Certification in relevant areas is a plus.

Security Requirements:

  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance to access military facilities, naval shipyards, private shipyards, and Naval installations.

  • Due to export control regulations, this role is open to U.S. citizens only.

Travel Requirements:

  • Occasional Travel- up t0 10% within and outside of the continental United States.

  • If a position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID. Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs.

  • Ability to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces.
