Expero Inc Associate Product Owner in United States

Expero's product teams bring challenging ideas to reality across every industry out there: bioinformatics, supply chain planning, law enforcement, banking, defense, semiconductors, real estate, capital markets, and more. We work with industry leaders to not only build innovative solutions, but to often define those very solutions from inception through release.

This role helps define and prioritize detailed product capabilities and deliverables for a multidisciplinary team including product owners, customer and user experience designers, software architects, and client stakeholders at all levels. You interface regularly with various team roles and subject matter experts to provide product insights and balance competing product goals and business constraints across many specialties. You actively bridge the gap between business and technology by providing expertise in both.

What is an Associate Product Owner? It’s a person with some technical know-how, mixed with understanding customer needs, and topped off with a healthy dose of managing business objectives across many domains. Does this sound like a Product Manager? It’s similar, and definitely on that path. A Product Manager is a senior role that requires years of experience, but you can only get this experience if you are already a Product Manager. We just named the role that gets you there.

We are a remote-first company, with an effective and cheerful world-wide culture. We also have offices in Houston and Austin. Because this role will involve, among other things, creating innovative software products to make the US government more effective in serving and protecting the nation, you need to be in the US and authorized to work here.

  • Passionate and fast learner

  • Thrives in a centralized role combining product definition and analysis with excellent customer engagement and communication skills

  • A technical background helps. While we don't expect you to draw a screen or program a service, we do expect you to help manage estimates, delivery and integration of a highly technical work product

  • Experience with product discovery, design thinking, documentation, and storytelling is a plus. Our customers usually know they have a problem, but it's our job to help them identify the correct problems worth focusing on, and work to find creative solutions with them.

  • Enthusiasm for building and improving the state capacity of the United States of America.

  • Nice to have: experience with Microsoft’s project management tools (Azure DevOps, VSTS)

We get better work done for our clients when all our employees are paid well and have excellent benefits, including group health, dental, and life insurance, family leave, and a retirement plan. So that’s the way we do it.

Expero is committed to being an equal opportunity employer. Our focus is solving challenging problems, not where you came from or how you live your life. We are an E-Verify workplace.
