Primary Function
The Environmental Health and Safety Manager will implement, oversee, and adapt policies and programs to improve the organization's environmental and safety performance, ensure it complies with current and future regulations and standards, and protect its reputation. This position is responsible for providing leadership by developing strategies for effective environmental, health, safety and security programs for the facility.
Responsibilities
Manage EHSS vendors, expenses and budget
Represent facility on Global EHSS Council
Design, develop, implement and oversee organization's EHSS programs, procedures and systems
Manage EHSS activities including EHSS performance, safety audits, investigations, preparing reports and recommendations, waste management programs, and managing relationships with community or environmental stakeholders.
Direct management of worker's compensation claims.
Maintain EHSS metrics, record keeping, and communications.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
License expected.
Supervise a small to medium size team or direct and indirect reports.
Lead EHSS projects that are larger in scope or across multiple plants.
Excellent general problem-solving skills.
Knowledge and current understanding of all applicable regulations including federal, state and local laws and standards. (US EPA, SSHA, DOT, OSHA, etc.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
Excellent written & verbal communication.
Strong presentation skills.
Lead, direct, evaluate and develop direct reports, including contract personnel.
Manage projects and provide guidance and mentoring as needed.
Conduct performance reviews with direct reports, provide timely feedback and coaching, and promote growth among team.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's in Occupational Health & Safety/ EHS related field
