L3Harris’ Communication Systems segment is currently seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our team. This position will be based at a customer facility in Christchurch, UK with a requirement for some UK travel.
Position Overview:
The Engineering Team based in Farnborough and Christchurch, UK is responsible for:
The system design and integration of the latest military communications products into customer focused solutions.
The design, development and porting of military waveforms onto Software Defined Radios
The through-life support of in-service and future tactical radio products and systems.
The Engineering Team comprises system, software, hardware, mechanical and test engineering disciplines.
This person will contribute to the company’s success by the design, implementation and qualification of hardware solutions to meet programme objectives. This role will report directly to the Senior Engineering Manager. There will be daily interaction with other engineers and frequent contact with team members from within the company, partner organisations and suppliers.
Essential Responsibilities:
Undertake hardware design and qualification activities to support the implementation of military communications products and systems.
Produce specifications and undertake testing & analysis to ensure the physical, electrical and environmental compliance of products and systems to requirements, standards and legislation.
Prepare documentation and provide support to Design Certification and product safety activities.
Review and assess incident reports to diagnose system and/or product issues and suggest appropriate solutions.
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Master’s Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
Knowledge and experience of designing equipment to meet physical, electrical and environmental requirements / standards.
Understanding of Design Certification and product safety processes.
Preferred Experience:
An understanding of military communications and networking.
Knowledge and experience of systems engineering and product lifecycles.
Knowledge and experience installing systems in mobile platforms.
Knowledge and experience of electrical / electronic design techniques and associated tools.
Familiarity with recognised electrical, EMC and environmental standards (e.g. MIL-STD, DEF-STAN, BS).
