Job Description
The successful candidate will take on day to day challenges of a fast-paced manufacturing environment while achieving schedule objectives. The Manufacturing Engineer II will work closely with other engineers, test technicians, and assemblers to identify and eliminate root cause of failures in transducer manufacturing to reduce labor costs, scrap, rework and warranty charges. This role interacts with multiple parts of the business and will be looked to implement new and innovative manufacturing practices and equipment as well as drive cost savings initiatives
Job Duties
Lead improvement projects on existing manufacturing processes for cost-reduction, quality improvement, and efficiency.
Sustainment of released products to achieve highest levels of quality, reliability and on time delivery
Creation of manufacturing, production and test processes, tools and fixtures
Create and release manufacturing documents and perform training for assemblers.
Continuous improvement of products and processes to reduce manufacturing costs and increase quality
Control and documentation of manufacturing and production processes
Leadership and support of the company’s Lean and Continuous Improvement program
Identify and interface with vendors who can provide technical products and services.
Elimination of costs of non-Quality: scrap, rework and warranty repairs
Spot failure trends and work with technicians and other engineers to implement corrective actions to lower overall failure rates.
Identify and qualify new materials/equipment used in production as they reach the end of their life cycle
Job Requirements
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Physics required
2+ years experience in a manufacturing environment required
Prior Lean/Six Sigma/Root cause analysis experience is a plus
Ultrasonic acoustics experience is preferred
Higher levels of education (MS/PhD) with less experience will be considered.
