Program Overview:

The CDM Program is managed within the DHS Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, CISA/Office of Cybersecurity and Communications (CS&C)/Network Security Deployment (NSD) Division, responsible for enhancing the security, resilience, and reliability of the Nation’s cyber and communications infrastructure. The DHS CDM Program mission is to safeguard and secure cyberspace in an environment where the threat of cyber-attack is continuously growing and evolving. The CDM Program defends the United States (U.S.) Federal Information Technology (IT) networks from cybersecurity threats by providing continuous monitoring sensors (tools), diagnosis, mitigation tools, and associated services to strengthen the security posture of Government networks.

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Cyber Security Engineer with a strong background in cyber defense and virtualization technologies. The ideal candidate will have at least 6 years of cybersecurity experience, with at least 3 years of hands-on experience in virtualization platforms such as VMWare, Nutanix, and Virtual Box.

What You’ll Get to Do:

  • Deploy and manage Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), Firewalls, virtual machines (VMDK, OVF, OVA, and QEMU), virtual networking (OVS, AWS, Azure, VMWare, Nutanix, Virtual Box), and physical networks (CISCO and Arista).

  • ·Implement and maintain patch management strategies for virtual environments, ensuring timely updates and vulnerability remediation.

  • Apply Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) to virtualized systems to maintain compliance with security standards and regulations.

  • ·Utilize expert-level proficiency and knowledge to implement and maintain cybersecurity solutions effectively.

  • Conduct in-depth analysis of cyber events and incidents using advanced cybersecurity tools, tactics, techniques, frameworks, and procedures.

  • Implement and maintain Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) systems with SAML authentication for secure access management.

  • Stay updated with the latest cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and best practices in the cybersecurity field.

  • Obtain and maintain all necessary cybersecurity certifications relevant to the position. ​

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in cybersecurity and/or cyber defense.

  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience in virtualization technologies (VMWare, Nutanix, Virtual Box, etc.).

  • Expert-level proficiency and knowledge in deploying and managing cybersecurity tools and technologies.

  • Strong technical knowledge of Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) with SAML authentication.

  • Proficiency in operating systems such as Linux, Unix, and Windows.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Cybersecurity or related field.

  • Relevant cybersecurity certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, etc.

  • Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

  • Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, etc.

The proposed salary range for this position is:

$119,800 - $263,600
