Summary

Responsible for working with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Configuration Management, Quality and Production teams to ensure the highest quality product, with easily manufactured designs, and efficient manufacturing processes. Follow design through the product life cycle. Help in the development of metrics reporting and development in order to maintain manufacturing facility efficiency. Along with Engineering, develop and design fixtures to increase efficiencies. This is a hands-on positions requiring the ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and ability to trouble shoot point to point wiring. Contract Manufacturing experience preferred. PCBA and SMT line experience preferred. Wire harness and coax cable assembly experience preferred. Working knowledge of Aero Space, Medical and Automotive quality standards preferred.

Independently develop preliminary and detailed manufacturing plans, internal research and development, or sustaining activities. Apply knowledge of manufacturing and other engineering disciplines to ensure the technical link between design engineering and production is forged at the conceptual stages of the design. Apply creative ability to develop method of manufacture and repair to help lower product costs. Work in liaison with Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Test on preliminary and regular program problems as they arise.

The facility located in Waukegan must work onsite.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential duties and responsibilities include the following, other duties as assigned.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain methods, work instructions, operation sequence and processes in the manufacture of components, subassemblies and final assemblies

  • Interface with Program Management, Production Control, Product Support, Quality Engineering, Design and Sr. Manufacturing Engineers to coordinate and support the release of new products and revisions to existing products

  • Estimate manufacturing cost, determine time standards and make recommendations for tooling and process requirements of new or existing product lines, working independently or as a contributor to a team

  • Drive continuous improvement efforts to reduce waste, cost, and defects in production, repair station, and in business processes. May be acting as departmental representative on a cross-functional team

  • Design, develop, and validate basic tools and fixtures

  • Generate, execute, and document validation plans and reports for product and equipment moves.

  • Maintain metrics reporting systems for coordination of manufacturing operations.

  • Perform maintenance of basic equipment, tools, and/or fixtures as needed.

  • Support non-conformance/rejection and MRB.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution OR

  • Minimum 2+ years direct experience related to the essential functions of this job.
