Energy Efficiency Engineering (Internship-Summer 2025)

Job description:

We are seeking a motivated candidate to join our team in Waupaca, WI as an ENERGY EFFICIENCY ENGINEERING INTERN FOR THE UPCOMING 2024 SUMMER SESSION. The position is ideal for a person with interest in the energy efficiency of electrical and mechanical systems in manufacturing facilities.

Duties may include:

  • Collaborate with energy teams to identify energy savings opportunities

  • Develop energy savings calculations for new/existing energy projects to be “shovel ready”

  • Collect, analyze data, and benchmark energy systems to illustrate system performance

  • Document recommended energy practices to be considered into developing new energy systems

  • Assist the plant’s energy teams to expand energy monitoring systems by creating new dashboards, KPI’s, reports, etc

  • Research about new technologies that may be implemented at WF plants to increase energy efficiency

  • Support to update energy regression models and carbon emissions baselines for WF plants

Basic Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (second or third year preferable). Experience with Industrial Assessment Centers is preferred

  • Basic knowledge of the operation of one or more different types of energy using systems such as: Compressed Air Systems, Pumps and Fans, Lighting, Dust Collection/Bag Houses, Electric Motors, HVAC, Energy Management Systems, etc. Experience using energy efficiency tools, such as US DOE MEASURE is preferred

  • Interest in gaining experience in energy efficiency or similar technologies

  • Must be a team player capable of multitasking and working several complex and diverse tasks

  • Must be well organized, reliable, conscientious, and be capable of managing resources and schedules to meet deadlines

  • Be enrolled in post-high school education for the Fall 2025 semester

  • Minimum of 1 completed year in related field (preferred)

  • Be considered a full time student (12 credits or more)

  • Be 18 years or older
