A Day in the Life

In this role, you will join a world class team of mechanical, electrical and software engineers responsible for further development and enhancement of the globally launched Robotic Assisted Surgery platform within the Surgical Operating unit: https://www.medtronic.com/covidien/en-us/robotic-assisted-surgery/hugo-ras-system.html

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

• Lead definition and implementation of different software testing techniques to increase test coverage.

• Using software test engineering techniques to maximize test coverage with optimal effort in both automation and manual testing.

• Develop and deliver all software Verification deliverables for your project to support regulatory submission.

• Understand the technical behavior of the system, architecture, software requirements with an aptitude to identify product defects in all phases of development.

• Lead development of solutions that have significant improvements of processes and test development with aptitude for continue improvement.

• Coordination dry runs and formal Verification activities as required.

• Collaborate with technical engineering teams, mentor junior test engineers.

Required Knowledge and Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline, preferably software related (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering) with a minimum of 5 years of software verification experience, or Master’s Degree in the same area with a minimum of 3 years related experience.

• Medium to advanced level C++ coding ability.

• Strong embedded testing experience, including thorough understanding of creating test protocols for verifying software requirements.

• Good communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work successfully in a team, such as with Systems, Mechanical, Electrical and Software engineers

• Professional level English language skills.

Ideally we are looking for a candidate with expert knowledge of Medical Product verification, IEC-62304 and FDA guidance and ability to work with QA to ensure testing meets Quality and Regulatory needs. It would be a great benefit to have a strong understanding of good documentation practices, various off the shelf test management systems and experience leading and implementing automation framework, test tool and automation scripts, developing mocks. Additional nice to have features are the ability to manage, track and upgrade multiple hardware and software configurations, familiarity with common programming languages such as C#, Matlab, and Python, as well as experience using a tool or repository for managing test cases (Bitbucket, JIRA, JAMA, etc).
