Position Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our team in the construction/contractor industry based in Cincinnati, Ohio. The successful candidate will play a critical role in maintaining the general ledger, assisting with the month-end close and consolidation process, and preparing monthly financial statements. This position offers an exciting opportunity for individuals with strong accounting skills and a desire to contribute to the financial success of our organization.

Key Responsibilities:

General Ledger Management:

  • Post month-end journal entries and reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.

  • Maintain detailed records and documentation to support journal entries and account reconciliations.

Percentage of Completion Accounting:

  • Understand the principles of percentage of completion accounting and prepare monthly Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules.

  • Monitor project costs and revenue recognition in accordance with accounting standards and company policies.

Month-End Close and Consolidation:

  • Assist in multi-location month-end closing and consolidation processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to gather and consolidate financial data from various business units.

Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.

  • Communicate financial results and trends to management and stakeholders, highlighting key insights and areas for improvement.

Accounting Procedures Development:

  • Develop and maintain written accounting procedures to streamline the month-end close process and enhance efficiency and accuracy.

  • Implement best practices and internal controls to ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

Budgeting and Financial Analysis:

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual budgets, collaborating with business units and functional teams.

  • Identify, analyze, and interpret financial data to support decision-making processes and strategic initiatives.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a senior accountant role or similar position

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Excel Formulas

• Familiarity with NetSuite, Oracle, and SAP software

• Demonstrated ability in Account Reconciliation, Balance Sheet Reconciliation, and Bank Reconciliations

• Proficient in maintaining a General Ledger and making Journal Entries

• Experience in Month End Close procedures

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks

• Detail-oriented and highly organized

• Strong ethical standards and high levels of integrity

• Knowledge of construction/contractor industry is a plus.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA certification preferred.

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in the construction or contracting industry.

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and experience with percentage of completion accounting.

  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and Microsoft Excel.

  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret and communicate financial data effectively.

  • Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
