Job Description

Join the Naval Nuclear Laboratory in the Alpha & Infrastructure Engineering (AIE) Unit as an Environmental Health Technician! We are seeking an experienced individual that is interesting in applying engineering theory and technical skills to support the decontamination and decommissioning (D&D) being performed at the Bettis site. Additionally, this individual will aid in the turnover of legacy buildings and information to DOE-EM.  The successful candidate will work with various disciplines within the Bettis Laboratory Site (BLS) Directorate in support of the existing radiological facilities as well as current and future D&D projects. Specifically, the candidate will provide technical direction and support for the execution of radiological work.  The primary work in this position is governed by the Radiological Controls Manual as well as the Radiological Controls Manual D&D Supplement.  Specific training will be provided to qualified individuals.

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 13 years of relevant experience; or  Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience; or  Journeyman's papers in a related field and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or  Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Skills

  •  Efficiently evaluate environmental/chemical hazards by maintaining a working knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations.
  •  Develop nuclide distributions and activity assignments for radioactive areas, items, and media.
  •  Previous Engineer of Radiological work, Radiological Control Technician and/or Qualified Contamination Worker are a plus

Pay Range $83,600.00 - $130,700.00 annually Salary information provided is a general guide line only.
