Geisinger Health System Ophthlamology Technician/Photographer in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania

Job Summary

Assist physicians in the care and treatment of patients in the Ophthalmology Department. Provides a broad range of specialized photography services to the Department of Ophthalmology.

Job Duties

  • Performs ophthalmic photography to document pathological findings and conditions, including slit lamp, fundus, fluorescein angiography, Ocular Comfort Index, ocular motility studies, endothelial photomicrography.

  • Assists physicians with examinations, procedures, diagnostic studies, treatments and dressings.

  • Compiles preliminary histories on new patients.

  • Records new problems, including all current medications, on return patients on Epic charting.

  • Administers dilating agents for ophthalmic fundus examination upon successful completion of ophthalmic pharmacology exam by licensed medical staff and supervised member.

  • Screen patients prior to exam by testing visual acuity, near and distant, and intraocular pressures.

  • Performs ophthalmic testing, visual field testing, air tension testing, automatic refractors, Retinomax, Keratometry, lenometry, Intraocular lens measurements, pachymetry, and corneal topography.

  • Assists physician with minor clinic surgery, special procedures, ophthalmic lavage, and preoperative preparation of patients.

  • Provides postoperative instructions when indicated.

  • Assists with and sets up laser treatments, including Argon, Krypton, and YAG lasers, ultrasound testing and cryopexy surgery.

  • Performs ultrasound for measuring intraocular lens.

  • Completes calculations of findings and obtains Keratometer Readings.

  • Coverage of Outreach sites may be necessary.
